Ambrosia Plum

First hot toddy of the fall! I’m really enjoying trying plum teas lately and I really like this one It worls well with rum. Now I’m cozied up for the evening with my kindle and mug.

I like plums,but I don’t like this one.The dry leaf smell like real dried plum(/prune),not too bad ,but somehow it makes me think that it is salty.The tea is astringent and a bit of smoky,which makes my throat not so comfortable,plus the plum aspect taste salty and bitter and astringent and a little bit too much,not my beloved fresh fruitness or sweetness. I suppose I won’t buy it any more.

I had this on Thursday in the afternoon. I didn’t have much time to write about it, but I did record a message on the phone, reviewing the tea. There wasn’t much that I said about the tea, expect that it tasted like “old fruit that was sitting out too long; however, there’s an odd sweetness to this tea.” The “old fruit” flavor remained as an aftertaste that was almost unsettling. I usually like Zhena’s Gypsy teas, but this wasn’t one of them that I had enjoyed.

Very nice! The plum essence bloomed as the tea cooled. It is a nice, mellow yet flavorful tea with a very smooth finish. The scent is quite delightful. It tastes very fresh – nothing dusty or artificial. Overall, this is a lovely cold-weather tea to curl up with before bed :) I will likely purchase this again.

I really like this tea. I love the sweet, light plum flavor, and the floral creaminess from the green and white tea. This one always helps me distress with the just the right amount of sweetness to not add any sweetener. I should note that I like more natural sweetness from flavoring over sugar itself, so sugar might be needed for some to full enjoy it. There are times were I added sugar and honey to help out the flavor for a greater craving, but normally I drink it as is. I do recommend to go through this tea quickly after buying it, because the flavors do not keep very long which is one of my main complaints about this tea in particular. Worth the price when on discount.

I see (or rather I smell) why it is called that. It smells heavenly. Like walking through an area of plum trees. Light, airy, fruity. The taste is only a hint of that, it is more bitter than anything else. Not like when you steep a green tea too long bitter, more like bite into watermelon rind bitter. So it’s bittersweet. Literally. I only steeped for 2.5 minutes (2-3 is the recommended time on the tin). Sugar makes it so much better and you can really tastes the plum.

Today when I made this, I get toasted coconut, sweet plum, and vanilla. Last time I made it, I could taste licorice, but today I gave it a shorter steep time.

I’m generally not fond of white teas, this was no exception. The plum and rose give this one a very sweet aroma in the tin and cup, but the flavor isn’t well balanced. I’ve tried adjusting the temperature of the water, but to no avail. It’s fruity with tartness that isn’t awful, but lacks all the clean refreshing flavor of a green or white tea. It just becomes kind of a vaguely sweet tart mess of flavors for me. Which is alright iced, but otherwise, not so much
