From Verdant Tea (Special)

Yunnan White Jasmine is so floral, creamy and rich on its own, so we thought we would bring out the juicy citrus flavors hiding in the background. Lemongrass and vanilla come together to almost evoke key lime pie. Marigold, linden leaf and rose fortify this blend and bring out the aromatics.

Ingredients: Yunnan White Jasmine, marigold, rose, linden leaf, lemongrass, vanilla

Here’s the blends club blend that resides in my cupboard (#19). I hadn’t tried this one until recently when I cold brewed some.

I would say it is a decently tasty blend. I wish there was more tea and less “stuff” in it (‘cause holy crap there is a lot of stuff in this blend). So many flower petals. It tastes like jasmine with a hint of fruitness. I will probably cold brew the rest of it since it’s not super exciting.

A silver needle white tea blended with plenty of flower petals. This one has a lovely jasmine scent, both in dry form and after brewing. There’s also the slightest hint of rose. In terms of flavor, this is a superbly light and smooth jasmine tea, with a bit of fruit flavor contributing to what I suppose is the “tropical” feel. The white tea base is of good quality and has a hay-like note, evoking a sunlit sort of feeling.

A good jasmine tea with a light touch always reminds me of summer in China, and this one was nice to have on a warm afternoon. To be honest, I’m not sure how well the tropical concept of the blend succeeded here—I’m not getting much from the lemongrass, or other additions. But on sheer enjoyability this is getting a high rating anyway. Thanks beelicious!

Well, I’m finally finishing this packet. I tried to stretch it out as long as possible because I really liked this one. Some of the blends from Verdant have been a little odd (but, I’m happy to try them). This one, I just loved. I love authentic tasting floral teas, citrus, and vanilla, all flavors present in this tea. It is also really flavorful. Juicy is a great way to describe this. The dominant floral is definitely jasmine, followed by citrus, and then vanilla. The texture is almost syrupy. The aftertaste is floral and sweet.

I thought I had reviewed this, but I guess not! This was a blend of the month tea back this summer. I have since discontinued the club, but I have a giant backlog of teas that I need to finish off from previous months.

I haven’t been paying enough attention to give this a detailed review, but essentially this is floral, jasmine and sweet. My favorite jasmine white tea is the base, and its typical linen and sugared sweetness is present, perhaps even enhanced by the vanilla. I agree that this being a ‘vanilla’ tea is a mismomer, but I do like the mild sweet flavor that smooths and softens the myriad of florals. To me, this reminds me of my beloved Eight Treasures Yabao but with a different base :)

Overall, this is a lovely summery tea if you like florals and jasmine. I love these things when they are done right, and I love how this blend tastes. For me, this is a good one, as it’s to my liking :)

barf. whatup non vanilla, gross jasmine tea. yeah….and that concludes my re-entry to the blends club. Give me back the first couple months please :( So disappointed by the “vanilla” themed month. I pretty much bought a month for my tea sister terri ‘cause she’s getting all of these lol

i don’t get vanilla…i get flowers and jasmine. my least favourite things…i’d rather have blergamot.

The first time I tried this, I went with the Verdant steeping guidelines, but I found the cup a bit underwhelming. One and a half teaspoons at three minutes at 175 worked a lot better for me!

I really like floral teas, so I enjoyed this quite a bit. However, if you don’t like floral, you’ll probably want to back away slowly; the aroma and taste are extremely flower-powered. Jasmine and rose flavors play pretty nicely together, and the end of the sip is free from that astringency that you sometimes get with jasmine teas. I didn’t get any vanilla from this, but I did like it quite a bit!

So… Another “vanilla” tea from this month’s Verdant blends club. Now, I am not a lover of floral teas in general, but jasmine is okay sometimes. Looking into the pouch, this tea looks like potpourri – it’s basically a bag full of flower petals with a couple of silver needles thrown in. It smells very strongly of rose… ick. I looked up silver needle steeping instructions because for some reason Verdant’s steeping parameters are always for super short steeps with a lot of tea. Honestly I think I overleafed a bit, but it didn’t seem to have much effect.

Brewed aroma is mostly sweet jasmine, and thank goodness the floral is less intense than the dry scent. The rose is still there, but weaker than the jasmine now. Overall it smells quite sweet, and there’s a little bit of cucumber along with a faint hay aroma. The first thing I taste is the lemongrass, which is a nice surprise. The overall taste is mostly jasmine, however, but it’s not terribly strong. The rose is mostly present as an aftertaste, and honestly I don’t really taste white tea at all.

I have to say, there is absolutely no vanilla flavor at all in this tea! I feel like I’ve been duped… Verdant, you have broken my fragile little heart! This one will go into the rehoming box, there’s no way I’ll drink this with the amount of floral in it. Not going to rate.

Still have one more to try… Hopefully it’s fantastic.
