From Upton Tea Imports

Just below Fancy grade, Choicest Oolong (Wu-Long) is a flavorful alternative with much of the complexity of a Fancy Oolong. The price is moderate by comparison.

Surprise cold(ish) snap over night made me crave a roasty toasty tea for this morning.

We even had to turn the heat back on!

This was a lovely mild oolong with a wonderful malted character. I drank it quite fast and just loved the mouth-feel and the drinkability. There was something very smooth and wonderful about it though I typically like a bit of fruity top note (and that wasn’t here) I enjoyed it thoroughly nonetheless. It is the perfect mix of a vegetal green and a spicy bohea black. It has a smoky smell and leaves brewed are very limp. The liquor is a chestnut color and it has this wonderful toasted walnut flavor that lingers on the palate.

I’m not sure whose “choisest” this is, but it doesn’t seem like mainline oolong to me. The first steep had a bit of that oolong nuttiness, but not the creamy texture I look for and it was sweeter than I expected. It got even sweeter on the second steep, and by the end of the third, it was fading. I’m glad I got a sample size so I could try another variant on oolong, but I won’t be ordering more.
