Our Rooibos tea is top-grade, organic South African rooibos; also known as Rooibos Red Tea or Red Bush Tea. Rooibos tea is a flavorful, naturally caffeine-free alternative to teas from the Camellia sinensis (tea) plant such as black, white, green, oolong and pu erh teas, and is delicious by itself or with milk and sugar.

I got this last year and have been using it primarily as a mixer for other things: tonight’s blend is rooibos with ginger, orange peel and cardamom. I don’t care that much for plain rooibos so I am not going to rate this one but it is fun to experiment with. If you’re curious this blend came out really well, maybe I should start my own tea business?
While I normally have flavored rooibos blends, I got this in a Secret Santa swap, so I decided to brew it up … and I’m reminded why I normally stick to flavored rooibos blends.
It’s your typical rooibos flavor with sort of a woodsy taste to it. It’s not unbearable, but it’s not amazing. I bet this is a higher quality rooibos blend than others, too, but I’m just not feeling it. I wonder if I steeped it too long and gave it too strong of a flavor, but I doubt it. I’m going to stick to my flavored blends, but it’s nice to step outside of the box every once in a while.
This is a great rooibos that I blend with flavored teas. It is especially great with black teas. It makes those overly fruity/flavored blends taste better – it tones down the other flavors to a palatable level for me, and adds its own something in the process. I haven’t tried it by itself.
