From Teavivre

Origin: Yunnan Province, China.

Ingredients: tight and wiry with plenty tips, even shape, dark and smooth.

Taste: strong floral fragrance, tastes mellow, rich and full with strong sweet aftertaste.

Health Benefits: Being a fully oxidised – or fermented – black tea, Dian Hong does not have the same level of antioxidants that our White and Green teas have, however it is still a good source of these and so will also help reduce the risk of cancers and lessen the affects of aging. Black teas such as our Dian Hong also are considered to help prevent tooth decay and help lower your cholesterol levels.

Dry leaf aroma initially reminds me of raisins, but once brewed becomes incredibly deep and floral.
Taste is just slightly malty with a wonderful, rich floral sweetness that fully remains even on the second steep. This is so lovely, and it’s like the tea has been softly scented with red rose petals; very smooth, fragrant and sweet.
Absolutely delicious!

Eee Teavivre!

caile

Did you order this one?

Courtney

Yep, a sample size. Pretty much all their blacks tea, with the exception of anything smoky, I ordered haha.

caile

haha, that’s good! I got one of the sampler packs that came with two samples of this. I’ll have to order a full pouch next time. : )

Courtney

Oh excellent. I love hearing that about teas that are en route. Although my wallet doesn’t enjoy it quite so much.

Sil

nice to see a few more reviews on this one :)

Kirlika

They’ve got a number of really, really nice black teas. I just got a pouch of Fengqing Dragon Pearl Black Tea myself that’s waiting for me in mail jail. I’ll be picking it up in about an hr and I can’t wait!! (Got one of the sample packs too and I think one of this as well, it sounds excellent.)

caile

And it sounds like there will be even more reviews coming!! ; )

Those samplers are great, and so is the dragon pearl – I’m sure you’ll enjoy them Kirlika!

Wow no tasting notes yet, and i’m certainly not going to set the bar high lol Working from home today but i’m pretty much exhausted beyond belief. My words aren’t working so well today. This is a decent cup of tea from Teavivre. It’s sweet, with a strong edge that i lik, without being bitter or astringent. Sadly, while i will enjoy this a bunch, it doesn’t knock others out of the top of my list for teas to keep on a permanent basis. I can see ordering this from time to time though to rotate through my cupboard :)

Edit: Also a sipdown because Terri hasn’t tried this one haha. Maybe i can hit 165 today…

caile

I just got the sample packs I ordered of this in the mail yesterday, but haven’t tried it yet.

Hope you can get some rest soon!

Tea of the morning…..

I am so glad this one finally arrived. Shipping times were slow due to the holidays, I imagine. I saw it was routed through Chicago, too, and they have had some pretty frigid weather. I usually spring for the shipping so it will get here faster, but I am thinking that was not such a good idea in this case.

Well, the tea is worth the wait. I get a floral note, there is a roastiness (ashmanra and JacquelineM- this kind of reminds me of Emperor’s Red from Premium Steap, but more floral), and a lingering sweetness. Really, it is like tea candy. I know that is a weird description, but the cocoa notes come across like a rose chocolate. I am not sorry at all that I just jumped in ordering 100g of this. It will be savored.

Usual mug method so I can try a resteep and not be tealogged.

I was just pining for Emperor’s Red last night. Maybe I should put in an order for this!

I thought I had reviewed this sample previously…hmm.
I enjoyed this tea. It is slightly floral and malty with a slightly sweet aftertaste. It is not at all astringent or bitter.
I think I will try a longer brew next time to see what happens. I am not sure that I would purchase this as there are a large number of straight blacks that I prefer (like Teavivre’s black pearls), but it was enjoyable.

Steepster’s got to be eating reviews.. We’ve all felt this at some point havent we – unless group tea drunk hallucinations

tigress_al

Haha, both are likely!

Mookit

I have experienced this as well! With a tea I almost certainly reviewed in the past. Sad that reviews seem to be disappearing :(
