This one has been on my shopping list for a while – mostly because I found it to be so odd…the flavor combos, I mean! Kristen was so awesome and sent me some of this! thanks Kristen!

The prominent flavor that reaches my nose – first and foremost – was the papaya! It also has a slight woodsy aroma underneath, too!

The taste is very different! I can certainly taste the Papaya and the other flavor I am tasting quite a bit of is the pumpkin, actually. While sipping I find this flavored olong to be pretty good. I must say that I am not fond of the lingering aftertaste tho. The sweetness of the Papaya paired with the funkiness of the pumpkin then you add in the cardamom and that 3-ingredient combo lingers something gnarly!

All-in-all I like the taste of the tea while sipping…just not crazy about the aftertaste. So…I will go with a rating of lower 70s – I don’t know if I would go above 75 mostly because of the disturbing aftertaste….but like I said…other than the aftertaste I do like this one!

Kristen

Glad you enjoyed it, except for the aftertaste. I just couldn’t get past the smell of it!

Kathryn Ann

I think this might be one of teavanas better flavored oolong teas. I just really love it on a really cold day :) probably cause of the pumpkin. It does have an aftertaste.. so i try to not use water thats really hot because i feel like it makes it bitter. thats just me though (:

THIS TEA IS BEING DISCONTINUED! I’m a little sad about it, but it also means I’ll be able to buy some more at like 40% off sometime between now and Christmas. :)

Krystal

It’s in the stores now :)

I didn’t see it at my local Teavana- they must have run out before they could put it on sale! But it’s cool, it would have just been a tease anyway. lol :)

Krystal

Oh no that sucks :( I’m lucky enough to be right by three of them

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this tea.

I’m quite enjoying it. I love the spice tones and how they contrast the sweet fruit notes and also complement the pumpkin. It’s a very unusual tea with a very odd set of flavors, but, somehow they manage to work together quite well.

Nice.

Another tea from Irina. Again, I’m hesitant to log this because I’m just guessing at what tea it is. The raw leaf is tightly rolled leaves and has chunks in it LOL. There are things that look like chocolate covered raisins only slightly green in color and lighter golden colored things. I tried one and they are rather soft and slightly chewy. Maybe fruit? Apple? It smells chocolatey, but I’m detecting something I think is raisin… but there are savory notes too… I think that must be the pumpkin.

Due to the heavy chunks, I measured this by 1 heaping tsp (2.75g)/6oz water. After steeping the liquor is a light yellowy. A light apple juice or… um… well.. I’ll stick w/ a light apple juice. The flavor is light for an oolong- it’s definitely a green oolong base. It’s sweet, slightly spicy, and even a little cidery- although not apple cidery. Whatever this is, it’s GOOD! This tea is by far the best blend of spicy and fruity I’ve ever found. It gives the impression that you’ve popped a Red Hot, candied ginger, dried pineapple, and maybe a couple of other dried fruits into your mouth. The ginger flavor is really what ties it all together for me. Delicious. :3

I’m so sad that Teavana has discontinued this tea. If there’s anyone out there who knows of a tea that’s similar to this one, please let me know! I don’t really have any other options for spicy and fruity at the same time (besides blending teas, to which I will have to resort if I can’t find a substitute for this one when it’s gone).

Backlog:
Had this tea when the site was all buggy a few days ago.

(swap from DianeinOz)

This tea tastes quite a bit different than it smells (both the dry leaf and brewed smell the same to me). It smells very sweet, in a perfume-y way; like the smell of candied-fruit perfume that one might find in a little girls’ accessory store. The taste, however, is spicy and not so sweet. The cinnamon really takes over and I get just a hint of what might be the papaya, but nothing else. I’m not big on spicy teas, but there are a few that i will drink if I happen to already have them, this being one of them. My husband likes this one, so it may be a repurchase.

Judging by the scent, I can tell right away this will be a dark tea. The papaya and pumpkin are ripe and strong and very sweet. It is an intensely interesting and unique aroma.

Unfortunately, the taste does not live up to it’s aroma. It is a very weird flavor I am really not used to. The papaya is there, but the pumpkin does not blend well, and the cardamom really doesn’t help.

This is the second pumpkin tea I’ve had that surprised me how interestingly unique but oddly disappointing it has resulted. Thankfully, this doesn’t have a strange banana flavor, and is quite strong for such an odd blend, thanks to the cardamom and cinnamon.

There might be a clash of seasons here, of summer and autumn, with the darker papaya and pumpkin attempting to blend with peach and blossoms. There is a bit of paleness that follows the odd after-taste of pumpkin.

It is quite ambitious. It is also not a tea to drink all the time, considering how odd it is. It might be better iced near the end of summer, transitioning to autumn, which would make sense of the clash of seasons here.

I know my review will go against the other reviews posted about this tea, but for me I will not be able to get to the bottom of my teacup with this tea in it! Yuck, can’t get past a papaya taste. Also leaves a fake spiced aftertaste. This tea is not for me.

Deliciously sweet & rich tea. A great Oolong at that, not bad in price either. I recommend blending with the Ginger Peach Apricot as well in equal amounts, they pair wonderfully.

Mischievous Tea Fey

That sounds like a great combination

Bought this back in the fall and have loved it so much that I never noted it because I wanted it all to myself (sadly they have discontinued it now, anyone know of a good sub?) I love love love the warm fall scent it brings to my kitchen. Seriously I would love this as a home scent. It’s sweet, warm, creamy and just a bit spicy. I need this in my life!!
