BUDDHA DRAGONWELL
DA FO LONG JING
A wonderful modern take on one of China’s most prized teas, at one time reserved for the Imperial Court. Big Buddha Dragonwell is produced in a new growing region for this style of tea, which originally hails from Hangzhou. This version is made in Xin Chan County, which is renowned for a very large Buddha statue & ancient temple perched atop the highest mountain in the area, hence the addition of “Big Buddha” to this tea’s name.
The result is a lovely, complex tea with alluring light chestnut & floral notes as well as pleasingly fresh, green taste that arises from a combination of the pristine environment where the tea is grown, as well as a skilled tea maker who embraces the tea’s inherent light, spring-like nature by delicately & carefully wok-drying the leaves by hand without overheating or roasting.
