Welp. Steepster ate my tasting note, but that’s ok, because it was only three lines long. Something about how this was better the first time, but was still tasty. Probably a byproduct of underleafing + hard work water. And something about how I should have made a tea with more caffeine, haha.

Babble

Never heard of this tea, but it sounds like something my BF would like since he’s a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kittenna

Haha, I got this as a sample from Missy & Dylan months ago. They ordered a lot from SerendipiTea. It’s not bad; I clearly liked it the first time around more though!

Sipdown, me mateys!

While I like this tea, I’m finding there are other flavours I prefer. The vanilla, coconut and chocolate in this are very tasty, but it seems like “every” company puts coconut in their teas, and the flavour isn’t unique or distinct enough for me.

While I would not say no if it came to me in a treasure chest of sorts, it’s not a tea I will go out and restock. Tasty, but not essential. And if I have a craving for it, I can just go to the local cafe and get a pot to sip on while I sit there and play games or read.

I’m drinking it now as it’s a) a sipdown, b) old, and c) low in caffeine because there’s hardly any black tea in it.

:)

This is delicious! Thank you Missy and Dylan for sending me a sample of this!!
You know I have not had the best of luck with coconut flavored teas – with the exception of several good coconut oolongs and pouchongs. This however is a really good tasting tea! I like that it is a mix of rooibos and black as I enjoy a soothing morning cup now and then.
The flavors are vanilla, coconut, and cocoa.
Not over powering, very smooth, just YUM!
Steeped the same way that Missy had in her notes and while I was skeptical about the short steep time it works perfectly!

Missy

hehe I’m still scared of long steep times. Glad you enjoyed it!

First tea I’m trying from the teas I got from the Victoria (and Vancouver) tea crawl and swap. Of all the teas I got from the swap, why this one from OMGsrsly? Because it is almost 10:30pm and I work tomorrow, so it was really a caffeine thing. I could have opted for some Bear Trap from ShayneBear, but I wasn’t in a fruity mood, and I was tempted by either the Browncoat Genmaicha or Cantaloupe and Cream from CrowKettle, but opted for this due to the low caffeine count (there is black tea with the rooibos, but it is the last ingredient) and because it sounded rather cozy. So, it is brewing…

It smells nice and chocolatey and coconutty, and I hope it isn’t too strong a rooibos flavor. More details coming…

Mmmmmm….smelling gooood. Too hot to sip still. I did add some milk and sugar to this…the other tastings report this is good as a latte, so I added the milk.

Used to much milk as it is overpowering this tea, but not too badly. It blends well with the other flavors well so I am not too concerned, though next time I might skip the milk or use less. I found that with Orange Blossom from DAVIDs, I had a fine line to where there was enough milk to enhance, but not too much to hide the taste.

All in all, a good choice to start with and have tonight.

Crowkettle

Mm, this one has a nice list of ingredients. Definitely sounds cozy.

OMGsrsly

I really like this one. It’s available at Caffe Divano in the Vancouver area. Definitely good for evening.

Plunkybug

Cozy indeed! Now the bigger question is what to take to work with me tomorrow! :P So many choices.

Sil

Wish we could. Have joined you guys yesterday….need to travel out to be soon! :)

OMGsrsly

Heather, I think it might be “too many choices”, especially considering how many teas I purchased while there!

Plunkybug

Yep. I went with coconut cream pie this morning.

Merry Christmas (and happy late Chanukah). I got this tea, along with many others, for my boyfriend for Christmas. He was originally drawn to this tea because he is a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneer football team (which didn’t have such a great season this year). He also likes rooibos. I was originally going to buy this tea online but hated the idea of having to buy 4 oz at a time, so I eventually just gave up. Then, one fateful day on my vacation to Austin, Texas, I was browsing in Central Market (a very awesome grocery store) and saw this tea in bulk. Hooray! I could buy a small amount of this tea afterall.

And so, this was the first tea he decided to try tonight of all his lovely teas. It also didn’t hurt that it was late and it’s best to have a caffeine free tea.

This tea is quite pleasant. Rooibos is not always my favorite tea, but this tea is quite nice. I’m definitely getting creamy and some subtle chocolate too. Not really getting much fruity in here, but that’s not okay. There’s a slight bitterness, which is probably from the black tea that I didn’t realize was in here until afterwards – oops. But this tea is still quite lovely.

My boyfriend says, “It has a nice buttery aroma and has a strong rooibos taste. I like it.”

This is basically a fairly mild, inoffensive dessert tea with no rooibos evilness to be found. The dry leaves smell awesome – chocolaty, coconut and creamy – but once brewed it tastes more like a soft blend than the smell led me to expect. The blend of flavors is nice, but just a little too mild. Not weak, just not as strong as I was expecting/hoping based on the smell. Though it does make for a more soothing evening tea so I don’t count this one as a total loss. In fact, I liked it more and more as I got closer to the bottom of the cup.

I’ve had three cups of Buccaneer and think that it is mis-named. Maybe it should be called “Shepherd” or “Vicar” or “Constable”. It’s not a tea for dashing pirates or for Edith Wharton-style young ladies who are intent on conquering European high-society. It’s a good tea for a crepuscular read of Barbara Pym. It’s a great tea to share with an early evening visit with your neighborhood curate. You will taste its tones of vanilla and coconut and they will be kind and gentle, unassuming and a bit timid—but they are indeed there.

I may not be entirely fair: I’ve observed that I am not good at doing “subtle” when it comes to teas. I want mad concoctions that rage in my mouth! Buccaneer is a mild and very servicable tea. You can steep it for a while and it won’t taste bitter at all. It’s a tea for kind, gentle, wise people and not for pirates and debutantes. It is a perfect tea as is and milk and sugar will not hurt it, nor will they be necessary.

SerendipiTea has great looking packaging and speedy delivery service and I’m looking forward to trying more of their teas.

Another package from my tea and yarn club. This arrived accompanied by yarn, of course, a lovely mug, and honey sticks, which were entirely unnecessary with this tea. Smelled heavenly, and tasted wonderful and sweet. ‘Twas fine with me that it was mild, it was also soothing. I liked the mix of black and rooibos, I’m not sure if it would have worked so well if it had been just one or the other. And the mix of chocolate, vanilla and coconut was a treat.

I haven’t had this tea for such a long time, but I remember enjoying it. The scent of this tea is of a creamy coconut. It reminds me very much of coconut macaroons — buttery, sweet and just a little bit salty!

Sipping… definitely coconut as the main flavor. It thins out a little bit as the sip continues and leaves a bit of a strange finish on the tongue. It’s not necessarily bitter, but a little bit like coconut + greek yogurt. This isn’t my favorite tea from SerendipiTea.. there’s just something off about it. Then again, I’m not the biggest fan of some coconut teas as they can be over the top. I’d probably like this a bit more if the coconut were balanced with chocolate and vanilla.

This is one of my favorites. None of the flavors over powers any of the others. Coconut, vanilla and chocolate are a very good mix in my opinion. It is also very creamy.
The rooibos and Nilgiri compliment each other well.
Very nice dessert tea.
