From Rishi Tea

This deep-steamed type of sencha, known as “fukamushicha,” was developed about 30 years ago and is rarely seen outside of Japan. Fukamushi Senchha is steamed 2–3 times longer than Asamushi Sencha. The deep steaming of tealeaves creates a vivid green, opaque infusion that is strong and full-bodied without bitterness. Rishi’s signature deep-steamed sencha hails from Kagoshima and is made from the unique Asatsuyu tea bush that is prized for its low bitterness, deep green character and rich, milky flavors.

Wow, this was exactly one cup’s worth in a rusted mint tin from…maybe two years ago? Still tastes savory for Fukamushi in four ounces of water. Tough stuff!

618 tasting notes

This tea smells grassy, nutty and strangely, a little bit like cigarette smoke. It’s smooth and grassy in flavor. I wish I tasted more of the milky note the description mentions. I’m always after that milky taste in teas!

I don’t think there is anything very unique or special about this tea, but it’s a nice end to the day, especially after having so many Easter treats!

I love this tea, it is my favourite type of green tea and as the tasting note says it hasn´t got any bitterness.

I prefer my Fukamushi senchas for 30-45 sec in 160 degree water so it’s nice to know that a hotter, longer steep doesn’t get bitter:)

The leaf look like mush, but the taste is great! A real solid flavor and penetrating aroma on the nose. flavor is strong and has vitality!
