From Pudtea

Everyone’s favourite British summer dessert in a mug! This creamy blend is bursting with juicy strawberries and raspberries, the perfect accompaniment to a summer’s day…Or any day for that matter!

Vanilla rooibos, apple, hibiscus, sweet blackberry leaves, strawberries, raspberries.

Add 1 teaspoon per cup (2 teaspoons if, like us, you prefer your tea in a mug). Add freshly boiled water and infuse for 3 to 5 minutes.

Best enjoyed as it is!

All our tea blends are made in small batches in a kitchen where nuts, gluten, dairy and other allergens may be present.

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge – May Tea #2: – A strawberry tea

Finishing this one up!  I think it was my second or third favorite from Pudtea.  Though now the blackberry leaves are tending to take over the flavor a bit.  I wonder if that happens when they get older.  I didn’t really notice that there is strawberries AND raspberries the first time around.  Now it’s just a hint of strawberry under the blackberry leaf.  THAT SECOND STEEP THOUGH. Perfection. The right mix of tart and sweet.  Couldn’t have been better. Raising the rating from 92.

An Ode to Tea, E is for Eton Mess (gifted by AJRimmer)
Wednesday 4/21 — PudTea Eton Mess, made hot & plain 16 oz. Another rooibos tea bites the dust with a light hint of berry. Would like to try Eton Mess as the actual dessert. Thank you to AJRimmer for the share per my request to be added to the share package.

Roswell Strange was right when she said I would not be a fan of this one. I’m not. I think I had it before because the package was open but if I did I did not write a note. It’s very rooibos forward with a lot of hibiscus. It’s not creamy. It doesn’t scream Berry to me. I’m passing the rest on.

The fake berry plus the rooibos here are just not working for me. The berry is a bit too fake, and it just doesn’t taste good. It’s like medicine. I’m a huge rooibos fan, but this is the sort of rooibos blend even I can’t enjoy. I mean, I could probably finish my 1 oz bag if I wanted to, but I wouldn’t have a great time doing it.

We love Eton Mess by B&B. :)

Me too!

Mastress Alita

I have that issue with berry flavors on a rooibos base bringing out a medicinal/cough syrupy taste sometimes.

Cold Brew!

I’ve had the Eton Mess blend from Bird & Blend before and I like it, so I was excited to see Pudtea’s take on the same profile – it’s one I’ve only experienced in tea form. My first though when I tried the blend was “Oh, VariaTEA is going to hate this” because it’s really rooibos forward. I, however, loved it!

The rooibos blends from Pudtea have, so far, been rooibos dominant but I like whatever grade/region they’ve sourced. It’s quite nutty tasting to me, like a hazelnut brittle, with a lighter woody and mineral element. The hazelnut notes, in this tea, combined with the other elements of the profile made me think of a parfait!

The strawberry is good, though not particularly juicy/sweet. I feel like the best way to describe it is “Strawberry, but shrill”. Like, it was a high note kind of strawberry with an edge and tartness to it, but not under ripe feeling or sour/tangy. It’s compliments by the sweet, earthy taste of beets as well as a creaminess that reminds me of yogurt. Hence the overall comparison to a parfait! It was so different from what I’d expected, but genuinely it was so good. Very natural feeling, and rich without being sweet.

I am actually really interested to see, though, if I’m right about it not being VariaTEA’s kinda blend…

Nooooo!! At least if you’re right, I know where to send the rest of this.

NOO – Pudtea’s site says they are taking a break from tea! No teas for sale. Well, I guess that is better for my cupboard anyway

tea-sipper, if you did want to try their teas, I’d be happy to send samples because I ordered one of everything, and it’ll definitely take me a while to finish them on my own! Just let me know (:

AJRimmer – THANK YOU for the offer. Maybe at some point down the line, because I feel like we just swapped teas too! I’m glad you got to order them before they were gone. :D
