Tulsi Raspberry Peach (formerly Raspberry Peach Tulsi Tea)

To me, this is nasty. The tulsi scent does not mix at all with the raspberry flavoring, producing a nauseating medicinal aroma. Organic raspberry flavoring does not excuse its criminal over-application. It’s chemical and piercing and exits my nostrils with force when I swallow.

The taste sips alkaline then finishes with hibiscus sourness. In between is a flat taste of tulsi and hint of peach flavoring. Severely disjointed. Ugh. I definitely feel queasy. “Crowd pleaser” my ass.

I could sit there and smell this tea all day, it reminds me of summer with its faint scent of basil and peaches. It’s an interesting combination of sweet and tart that is slowly growing on me the more I drink it. I’m not really a fan of the hibiscus, but to be fair, I really hate hibiscus.

Bought this on EBay after trying a Tulsi blend from my local tea shop. Trying it now because it’s caffeine free and I have to be awake before 3 am to catch a flight to Texas. It is an interesting blend of the herbal character of the tulsi and the raspberry and peach flavors. Tulsi is a type of herbal that is new to me so I am not sure what to think.

I brewed this once in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 5 min.

I enjoy some of the teas from Organic India but this tulsi tea is not among my favourites. The holy basil tends to overpower any of the peach flavour. I can taste a tiny bit of it along with the hibiscus but the basil is just too strong and doesn’t seem to go with these flavours. Not a bad tea. I will finish off what I have but won’t buy this one again.

A friend of mine was very sweet to serve me this at our last dinner together, and it was quite unlike any other tea I’ve ever tasted. It has a great flavor to it. Definitely sweet and flavorful enough to drink on its on. We enjoyed it iced, but it would definitely be decent hot. Although I think I would prefer it always iced. I’m so glad she sent me home with two bags, so I can enjoy it again before purchasing it for my growing tea collection.
