TTB. I’ve been wanting to try this blend for some time (lychee? black genmaicha??), so was so happy to finally have a chance to try it. SO GOOD. The lychee works so well with the roastiness of the genmaicha, and the boldness of the black tea. I’ll definitely have to repurchase this one. Thank you for sharing, Roswell!

STTB Tea

Delicious lychee flavour! Somehow the toasted rice goes very well with the fruity flavour. The black base is quite nice – lightly honey/sweet flavour, a good balance of trannin while not being bitter. I will def. be ordering this next time I order from this company. Thanks for sharing!

What a fascinating tea – it’s basically genmaicha on black tea, which is totally delicious – roasty, toasty and comforting with more body/maltiness. Black tea genmaicha!? Fucking phenomenal. But then… then! You take that delicious “black tea genmaicha” and add in a light to medium bodied lychee flavour? That’s brilliantly inventive – a little floral and quite fruity/juicy. I don’t know why it works so much because the toastiness of genmaicha and floral sweetness of lychee seem contrary to me, but it’s REALLY good!

How have I never tried a black tea genmaicha?

Kittenna

Mmm. Verdant’s Laoshan Black Chocolate Genmaicha was fantastic; I’m surprised it’s not more of a thing. It does require a good black tea, though.

I guess the tea I’ve had most similar to a black genmaicha would be B&B’s Easter Egg Nests… and I love that one.
