I made a delicious cup this morning and yummy! and as promised the poem I wrote back in high school for Remembrance Day sorry for the delay :D

I sit in the cemetery by a grave
Wondering to whom did these soldiers last wave?
Who was the last to see them before they died?
Who did they leave behind?
Who were these soldiers so strong and brave?

They died for freedom
They died with faith
Knowing that one day, we would be safe
Because of them, we are free

They rest now
That their job is done
Knowing we will not forget
As will those who come
To you!

This is just sex. Can I say that? Well anyway its better I dare to say.
Its like drinking a cup of maple syrup mixed with sweet cream and milk because I mixed this matcha powder with those things. I am going to do this review super fast because I want to go enjoy this cup alone in my room – yup its so good.
I mean the maple in this is A MAZE ING!
The flavor lingers on the lips causing a lot of licking to go down.
This is sinful.
As soon as my gift certificate is updated for reviews I am order a REALLY BIG size of this!
I get robust flavor because I like my matcha to be ROBUST!
If you are more shy you could go delicate but I dare you to go bold with this one!
You won’t want to share.
This is the matcha you don’t introduce to your friends out of fear they will take it from you!
Now to be fair I had my daughter try it and she said “Meh I’ve had better” to which I cracked up laughing as she has no idea the tone of my review and she is only 17 so what does she know right?
She only tries a sip of my matcha now and then anyway but she said she liked almond better.
I mean who can really compare one to another – life is full of flavor and we shall have it all thanks to Red Leaf Tea!
Get yours here!

Steepster (in little kid whine) Azzrian keeps teasing me with the maple matcha tell her to share! (just kidding I’ll order some soon)

LOL Helena! :)

LOOOOOOL! You crack me up. Glad to see you like your matcha!

:) Glad I made you smile!

Everybody on Steepster is in a flavored matcha craze lately, what’s with it? Haha. I want to try it but all of the flavored teas I’ve been having just don’t taste very good for one reason or another.

@Scatterbrain, We’re all trying to review our flavored matchas before the promotion ended (Which was yesterday)

And don’t feel bad – flavored stuff isn’t for everyone.

But remember you can still get credit with them on the new program! Its on the site.
Scatterbrain PM me if you would like a sample!

Noted! :)

I have a question about this matcha. Does it taste like maple as in Aunt Jemima, or as in natural maple?

I’m hoping for the latter, as I go absolutely CRAZY over maple (I’m sucking on an all natural maple candy as I type this… xD)

Well since I can’t say for SURE that I have had REAL maple syrup and if I have it has been YEARS ago – I have to say it is more Aunt Jemima. So sorry. It is good though!

Ah darn. I’ll probably make my first matcha purchase the caramel then in that case. Thanks for answering :)

My pleasure! The caramel is wonderful.

Azzrian you are an angel! Thanks!

I started with 2 matcha scoops and ended up doing 4. A Double-Shot, my friends! Woot!

It sure DOES smell like powdered Maple Syrup! Niiice! Yes…that is NICE with 3’s i’s – so you know I mean business!

The matcha base is a darker one…a quesi-grassier one…not too overly grassy but a nice ‘filling’ or fulfilling one, I guess.

The brown sugary/maple syrupy goodness shines! It REALLY does! It’s not too overwhelming but it’s JUST RIGHT!!!!

As I continue to sip it – it seems to get…creamier! Nice!

This is intensely satisfying! I may change this to a 100 soon but for now…I’ll go with a 99.

OMG!!! I just bought this and it came while I was away for Thanksgiving! I’m trying it tonight..sooooo excited!!!!

I got the robust flavoring, by the way. What did you get?

hummmmmm not overly robust but darn tasty! LOL :)

This one is really good.

Glad you loved it!

I enjoyed this much more today than I did the first time I tried it. I could taste the chemical taste to it in my first tasting, now, I can barely taste it. So therefore, I’ve decided to increase the rating.

Today I just taste sweet, delicious maple: earthy, rich, sweet … and lovely matcha: creamy, vegetative. So good.

Autistic Goblin

earthy?? I would say a light maple fudge…. but maybe I’m just craving maple fudge :D

I just consider maple to be more a more earthy tasting sweet than sugar, for example, which is like pure sweet. Does that make sense?

And yes, maple fudge sounds yummy at this moment!

This is my third matcha from Red Leaf. I had a huge internal struggle trying to decide which to order (previously I’ve bought French Vanilla and Caramel, both at the ‘Delicate’ level of flavoring) and I wanted a third flavor along with my Caramel Matchacchino order (that stuff is also awesome!).

Anyhow, I decided on this, ultimately, because I love maple everything. Also I had tried a sample before and enjoyed it. I believe the flavor level was ‘Distinctive’ though.

It is tasty, and I can tell that there is a sweetness within which takes the edge off the matcha and adds some creaminess to it, however I find it disappointingly short on mapley goodness.

I guess I personally wish that there was more flavoring within the matcha for the ‘Delicate’ option, because honestly I barely taste anything aside from a mild sweetness. Based on other reviews I know this is one of the more popular offerings from Red Leaf, and I can see most people have ordered the ‘Distinctive’ or ‘Robust’ level of flavor. I found the French Vanilla lacking in flavor also, at the ‘Delicate’ level. The Caramel, however, was good; perhaps the caramel flavor used is just stronger to start with compared to the others.

I think it’s unfortunate to have to pay $6 extra to taste the maple; it should be noticeable in the ‘Delicate’ level and if you want it to blow your mind and completely hide the matcha taste, THEN pay extra to go up a level or two. I’d rather the price of the ‘Delicate’ option go up a couple bucks and have more flavor added to that to ensure it is noticeable, rather than have to pay so much more to bump up to the next level. I understand the need to have different levels available to please customers, but I definitely think it’s a problem for the base level to have such a weak taste to it.

As a disclaimer, I am a person who likes to be smacked in the face with flavor, but unfortunately it’s not in my budget to pay the asking price for Robust and even Distinctive, in size large, which I prefer to buy to make it last since shipping is so pricey to Canada. (Canadians love to drink maple syrup, didn’t you know??)

I made this as a latte, and I enjoyed it, as I said I am just a bit let down by the lack of discernible maple taste. I do plan to put in another order before the end of the month for Cheesecake and another flavor to be determined, I will have to pay for the ‘Distinctive’ just in case, as I don’t want to have another large bag of matcha where the flavoring is weaker than I’d like.

I love these products, I think Red Leaf has tapped into a unique market and there’s certainly no flavoured matchas available in my city. I plan to always have some in stock, I love to have a latte in the morning and I am looking forward to trying many more flavours as my finances allow.

Will I drink all of this with pleasure?? Of COURSE! I just find it kind of crazy that the ‘Delicate’ option for one flavor (Caramel) could be so much tastier than another flavor. Kind of inconsistent, though I realize this would likely be the flavoring used more so than anything, but I wish more flavor would be added accordingly to compensate. The ‘Delicate’ option should taste like its namesake for all of the matcha flavours, and I don’t feel this one does.

Luckily, being the proud Canadian that I am I always have a bottle of pure maple syrup in the house so I can easily jazz this up to my tastes.

Get yours here: (I’d just recommend Distinctive level at least)

If you do a few reviews, then it becomes easier to handle the price difference. Sme thing if you guys do a joint order since free shipping for international does exist :)

Yeah i’m the only matcha fan around here for now but that’s good to know! I do plan to use my GCs as much as I can to order a higher level of flavouring

I figured out how to swap matcha so we can always do another swap as well and I can send you matcha to try

how? i’ve received some in baggies before but of course it sticks a whole bunch

Hey Im new to Steepster and the Swap caught my eye. i was reading that you have purchased from Red Leaf. I couldn’t decide which one and then i purchased the largest amount to get the best price. Now Ive lots of the watermelon matcha and its ok. Maybe if I try it iced it would be better. I was wondering what else you had tried from Red Leaf and if you want to try some Watermelon Matcha?

I just read your posting and saw that you listed the other two. Another idea someone mentioned is to steep whatever flavor tea and mix that with regular matcha as you wisk it and you get the flavor that way too. I live in BC. Im excited to be coming to your province this summer for the first time!=)

@ whatshesaid – somehow missed your Q. Dollar store little tins :) they are perfect for keeping the smells from containminating. I actually don’t mind baggies because I just add a bit of water to the bag to get the last of it it. It’s the cross smell contamination that I don’t like.

Oh nice! Which dollar store? I wonder if there are any around here

they’re in all of them. Can likely find them in craft stores too but they’d be way more expensive.

Dollarama? Or maybe you have a different dollar store than us. The other one we have is the Great Canadian Dollar Store

OMG! Maple Syrup matcha is INCREDIBLE! This tastes EXACTLY like maple syrup! I mean, it’s supposed to so I don’t know why I’m surprised. I bought 30g of the classic matcha with robust flavoring. Let me first just say that 30g isn’t nearly as much as it sounds like. Maybe I just make strong, concentrated matcha, but I really should have bought more. I can tell this is going to go FAST.

The dry leaf aroma is spot on maple syrup. It reminds me of opening a 52teas’ maple blend. The aroma is exactly the same. I’ve been whisking up this matcha all week ever since it arrived. It’s a perfect flavor combination: matcha and maple. If maple syrup was sap from a maple tree, then drinking this tea is like licking the sap off a leaf. Okay, maybe that sounds gross. But it’s delicious! I promise you!

The vegetal flavor of the matcha and the sweetness of the maple create a soft, mellow, light drink. It’s not creamy and heavy like some of the other flavored matcha I’ve tried. This is just fantastic. Buying flavored matcha you haven’t tried before is like rolling the dice. It could be a winner, or it could be an odd pairing. This one is a winner!

I’m so glad I included it in my first Red Leaf Tea purchase. I can’t wait to mix this with Cheesecake matcha to make Maple Cheesecake!!! YUM!! This is delight in a cup. Pure and simple. You can get some here:

yeah 30g is waaay too small for this matcha! I bought that the first time around and never again. It’s only large or more for this one :D

I’ve heard good things about this. Maybe I’ll give it a go on my next matcha order.

@Helena, hahaha! So true! Lesson learned. ;)

@Rachel, It is super delicious and definitely worth an order!!! Go for it!

When I received my package of Red Leaf matchas, this and the Caramel flavour were the first two I tried. I just knew that they would be my favourites. I was SO RIGHT! I love the Maple Syrup flavour!

I ordered the classic grade of matcha with a robust flavour level. I’m so glad I got the stronger flavouring, as while I like green tea, I really wanted to taste the maple syrup, not the matcha. I’m drinking matcha partly for its antioxidant benefits, so am trying to get in the habit of having some in the morning before work, and I don’t always feel like matcha then. Maple syrup, however, I seem to always be in the mood for.

It was pretty good when I tried it straight-up, but my whisking skills need to be improved (I’m new to matcha). My favourite way to drink it at the moment is to put it in the blender with some vanilla almond milk and blend it until it’s nice and frothy. Quick and easy in the morning, and a treat before I go to work. I added some extra maple syrup one time, and it tasted great, but was really unnecessary. It tastes enough like maple syrup on its own.

I got mine at , and I took advantage of the buy 5, get 2 free deal, which was wonderful.

Tasting note number 1700! Woot!

Anyway, I added a tsp. of this matcha into a pudding cup of caramel pudding; honestly I didn’t expect to be able to taste the matcha but I just wanted that matcha buzz and I thought that out of the matcha I own this one would clash the least with caramel flavour. At I was pretty right; I couldn’t taste this one at all until the after taste and then surprisingly it tasted distinctly like maple.

That’s a wholotta notes, congrats!

OMG, that is a HUGE number of notes. How long did that take you??

Roswell Strange

I joined Steepster on September 4th 2013

You drink so much tea! Congratulations on 1700. :)

I had no idea what to expect with this one. Part of my cringed at adding it to milk, but I wasn’t sure why.

I just cracked open my matcha milk in it’s mason jar and bizarrely enough it tastes just like something at Lush smells. It may be my “Honey I Washed The Kids” soap bar. Fascinating.

Not bad, but not something I need to stock.

Cameron B.

Maple matcha sounds like it would be amazing as a hot latte! Yum.

I’m more than happy to send some along if you’re interested :)
