PROFILE: MUSCATEL, CITRUS, HONEY SWEET
ORIGIN: MOC CHAU, SON LA, VIETNAM
HARVEST: JULY 2018
Gorgeous honey sweet, muscatel, pear and citrus flavours dominate this wonderful Oriental Beauty high mountain oolong tea from the north of Vietnam. With its smooth, creamy amber liquor and lingering sweet aftertaste it is a true delight at an affordable price.
We are particularly thrilled to have secured a batch of this exquisite oolong tea which is primarily shipped to the Taiwanese market.
A ‘bug bitten’ oolong our Oriental Beauty is produced from the leaves of the Thanh Tam (or “Qingxin”) cultivar. It is subjected to a high degree of oxidation and a careful drying cycle to emphasise the wonderful flavour compounds released by the leaves after the leafhopper insects have sucked juices from them.
Oriental Beauty can only be produced in small batches during the summer months when the leafhoppers are plentiful – provided that the weather is not too wet.
The tea is produced on the Moc Chau plateau at altitudes between 1100 and 1200 metres.
