Produced from strains taken from the original Da Hong Pao bushes in Wuyi this da hong Pao (Peng Pei) has all of the roasted and sweet fruity nuances expected from a quality Da Hong Pao. The first steeping has strong roasted flavours blended with a sweet coconut dryness. The second and third steepings produce a less roasted flavour with a pronounced cherry sweetness. There are also hints of cinnamon that when combined with the other nuances produce the notorious Da Hong Pao mystique. By the 5th-6th steeping only a hint of sweetness remains followed by a fruity and floral astringency found only in quality Wuyi Shan Rock Teas.
