Almost there!

This honey bush blend reminds me a LOT of Amoda’s Honeybush Haze that I tried a couple days ago, but not quite as tasty. It’s appley, nutty, and honeybush-y, and that’s about it. Not bad, but I’d prefer the Amoda version if I was to have this one again.

You’re soo close! Man, I would be swimming if I had as much tea as you have had today :P

Kittenna

Oh let me tell you… I feel a bit bursty haha. All total I will have had 6 thermosed cups, 2 cups at work, 10 cups here, and 4 half-cup re-steeps. For a total of 20 8oz. cups of liquid, give or take a bit. :D

mrs.stenhouse12

Wow. I would be in the bathroom every ten minutes!! Well it’s all for a good cause at least :D

This is from way back in November and I’m just opening it now. If there was ever doubt that I’m a procrastinator..

I’m pleasantly surprised by this one. As Ozli noted, it tastes a bit like David’s Forever Nuts (must be the apple and nuts thing), but there are some textural differences in the way the apple flavour and sweetness come across.

At its best and thickest, it tastes a lot like a baked apple dessert, along with all the fine spices and stuffing. Other sips sometimes come across as watery and unnaturally sweet, with a sour tang, which is not fantastic. It’s still a fun rooibos to drink and I don’t think I’ll have any problem getting through an ounce of this, however.

Ok, so it’s not just me who is behind on trying teas that have been sitting there forever. :)

OMGsrsly

Not just you, Incendiare. :)

Yeah seriously, I have too many unopened teas sitting neglected in my cupboard. Poor teas. Life just isn’t fair, LOL!

Ohhh first note for this tea.

I received my second order today from Della Terra. So many teas for such a good price. But I’m left wishing I had ordered 2oz of them.
The dry leaves smell mostly of apple and the faintest hint of nuts. Steeped it smells more nutty, applet and oatmeal like.

This tea tastes apple like and nutty, its also quite sweet, but not overly so.. I find as this cools the nut flavour comes out more. This is a great evening tea. I have been having a hard time finding night time yeas that are reminiscent of fall and safe for me at night. (Insomniac and anxiety prone, over here)

LOL the name of this tea sounds like it should be a cereal. :)

tattooed_tea

I agree I mainly ordered it because its name reminded me of my fav cereal, Quaker Harvest Crunch.

Having this as my evening tea, as it’s a caffeine free blend. Part of my New Years resolution is to reduce my caffeine and increase my water intake. It’s going ok so far, only I have very few non-caffeine blends to choose from, and I dislike a lot of herbals. I’m also not a huge rooibos fan, though I seem ok in this and the other DT blends.

I do definitely get nut, with sweet apple and spice.

I have just a little left. I do like this, so I might order more of this for my evening drinking, but I think I might prefer the straight honeybush from Champagne Cider. I’m not sure if I like this as much as I used to, so I have dropped the rating, but I do still like it.

I think this might be the first time I’ve had green rooibos and I have to say that I enjoy it quite a bit more than traditional rooibos. Looks like there is hope yet in finding rooibos blends that I enjoy, unfortunately this isn’t really one of them.

While this was hot and I could actually taste the flavor of the nuts I really enjoyed this cup of tea, however as it cooled all I tasted was the artificial apple flavoring. If they would have left this as just a rooibos/honeybush/hazelnut blend I would have been perfectly happy to drink it all night long, even though I typically avoid sweet teas at night. The addition of the honey flavoring made this very sweet.

I think I’ll cold steep the last of my sample package and see what happens.

Thanks to Kittenna for this sample!!
It was definitely cerealish. I could taste honey, nuts, and errrr, rooibos? Hard to say, it was blended together quite expertly so that could have been the “cereal” bit.
After it cooled down, I got alot more honey thickness along with that throat catching nutty note. Actually, when hot, this was downright watery and almost tasteless! but then I added a bit of sugar and let it sit for awhile. Oh yeah, not bad at all. In some ways, it was airy, and others it was thick! Hmmmm. Figure that one out…
A little on the standard side, in my books, but unique enough to catch my attention and garner some curiosity. If I ever run out of complex herbals to sample (yeah not in this lifetime), I’d def repurchase.
Also, I think this would go very nicely as an iced summer refresher. I’m not a big iced tea fan but I do go through phases, and right now, I am all about cold brews!

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge Wednesday, September 8th: National Ampersand Day Tea #3

From last night and will have the second steep tonight. This is probably the only no-caffeine option for Ampersand day!  A good time to revisit it anyway.  Next time it’s a sipdown.  It’s a unique blend with a sweet nutty flavor even now, really comforting.

I think this is my first green rooibos. I am surprised at how good this tea is. It’s like eating a warm apple crumble. Or a homemade granola bar.

With each sip, I’m getting tons of nuts that slowly fade away to succulent green apple. It has a pleasant warm nutty mouthfeel; this is a hearty tea! It’s also naturally sweet.

I will probably have to repurchase it when I run out, especially as the rooibos in this is actually quite mild.

I keep seeing this one being mentioned, and somehow I forgot to pick it up in all my Try Me packs. Sigh.

Ozli

Does rooibos actually have a flavour? I keep seeing people say “I couldn’t taste the rooibos” or saying it’s mild, or whatever and I’m thinking…….. I have no idea what you’re on about! What does it taste like?!

ALSO, this tea sounds yummm.

Angrboda

It certainly does. Me, I don’t like plain rooibos and to me it tastes like a well chewed pencil. I like it when flavoured, preferably with some kind of berry. Others might say that plain rooibos has a wood-y, kind of fruity and perhaps slightly floral flavour.

YMMV, but this tastes exactly like Forever Nuts (David’s Tea).

Thanks to Dinosara for swapping the tea :) I tried this tea after Apple & Herb, up on request of my mother. (I will post review for apple & Herb soon) When I smelled it, it kinda felt like apple pie rather than nut&honey which surprised me. In fact it reminded me of gwendalina’s baked apple from Tea Gschwendner, which got me excited. However when I tried it, despite of wonderful fragrance, it did not have sweetness of gwendalina’s baked apple. It was mild, typical rooibos flavor. When I brewed it it had a golden color, which was pretty :) but with rooibos I usually see more red color so perhaps I put too much water? It was still good tea, just not sure if I like it enough to place an order for it. (and I wonder why they named it nut&honey crunch when it was more like.. baked apple.)
