Day 14 of 24 Days of Matcha
This was really good. Normally I’m not into peach flavored anything but this was actually really good and the peach tasted real and not chemical.

This is pretty artificial. It has a typical candy peach flavor that’s quite strong, largely overpowering the matcha itself. It was a bit too fake for me, compared to the other fruity matcha flavors. Trying all these flavors has been so fun. Matcha is too caffeinated for me to purchase a tin, but I would love to get another sampler to try sometime!
Chose this from my (dwindling!) advent matcha samplers for tomorrow’s breakfast smoothie. I think I only have one more fruity flavor (Mango) left, and a few others (Pumpkin Pie, Gingerbread, Salted Caramel, and Cherry Blossom).
Typical prep — full tablespoon sample packet whisked in cold, plain oat milk until dissolved and frothy. As per usual, it is quite sweet, which is making me think more of Peach Ring candies than peaches (thankfully that is one of my favorite candies!) I do, however, really like this peach flavoring, which tastes a bit more authentic to me than the sort in candy. This is another where the sweetness/flavor was really masking the actual matcha for me, even using the full packet, though I could pick up a very subtle matcha grassiness in the aftertaste. I had to reach for it, though.
I think I feel about on par with this one as the Blueberry one — I really liked the fruity flavor in both of those, but the sweetness in each was giving me something other than fruit (blueberry pancake syrup, Peachie-Os…)
Latte was blended with strawberries and the little bit of yogurt I had left. The peach flavor was more subtle against the strawberries, but when I do taste it, now it reminds me more of actual peaches, paired with that slight tartness from the real berries. This is one that I possibly wouldn’t mind stocking since I use a lot of matcha in smoothies and feel the flavor is actually improved here by using it in a smoothie.

David’s Matcha Advent Day 4.
Foam isn’t getting any better, but a friend suggested I work on faster whisking, so we’ll see how that goes moving forward.
Real or fake, peach is my favorite fruit flavor and I was quite excited to see this pouch (if a bit nervous after the fake berries). I liked it both with and without milk, though the milk was preferred. The peach was lovely if a little sweeter than I would choose. I could buy more of this.

DavidsTEA Matcha Advent Calendar 2020 – Day 4
Had this yesterday as matcha #4! I was excited to try this one, as it is so highly rated on the website. However – I did find it a bit overwhelmingly sweet. I feel like I’d prefer this one over ice in the summer. It would probably also go really well in a smoothie! It was enjoyable enough, but wow sugar first thing in the morning haha. Kind of lost the matcha flavor for me.
Prepared it in my usual method – 175 degree water, whisk up a bit, add more hot water. Will finish off my sample, but not a reorder for me!
DAVIDsTEA Matcha Advent Calendar – Day 4
I was happy to see this come out of the advent today, because a simple fruit flavor seemed like a good candidate for a plain preparation. I followed the instructions on the DAVIDsTEA website for a plain matcha, so used the whole packet for 16 ounces of warm water.
Honestly, this preparation just isn’t doing it for me. I feel like the matcha-to-water ratio is too low, as I can’t really taste that much of the matcha itself. What I do taste a lot of is sugar, and there’s too much of it for me when prepared this way. I guess the milk must help to mask it a little bit, as I didn’t find yesterday’s matcha overly sweet. The peach flavoring is very pleasant though, and tastes mostly like real peaches. The sugar does make it taste a bit candylike however. And I get the bitterness of the matcha at the end of the sip, without getting much of its more pleasant characteristics. Harrumph.
So I guess I’ll probably be adding milk to the majority of these then, after giving them a small taste partway through the preparation. I would make a more concentrated traditional preparation, but then it would be even sweeter, which sounds awful. I’m not sure if the amount of sugar varies with these flavored matchas or not…
On to the jam! Today it’s Seedless Raspberry Spread. A classic for sure, but still delicious. I don’t mind seeds in my jam, but it was pleasant how silkily this spread over the toast. This has a lovely rich raspberry flavor with a great balance of sweetness and tartness. Raspberry jam isn’t generally one of my ‘go-to’s but I’m finding it very tasty this morning!
And after eating the sweet jam, I can’t taste the sugar as much in the matcha! Perfect! XD

DAVIDsTEA Matcha Advent Calendar – Day 4
Like yesterday, I went iced latte with this one. However, I didn’t use the full packet. I used about 1/2 the sample and this is much better. Yesterday was like drinking milk filled with berry flavored sugar. Today, while sweet, its not overly so. The peach flavor is also nicer than expected and pretty true to the fruit. Overall, I wasn’t too excited when I pulled this out but I think I enjoyed it more than I expected.
I’ve decided to go all in on this matcha thing. I need the caffeine, but mate exacerbates my anxiety. So I picked up the matcha maker (the greatest invention of modern times tbh), shook up some peach matcha, added a bit of milk, and walked out the door. It’s GREAT. When I worked at Starbucks many moons ago, I didn’t like the smell of the matcha at all – like dirt and leaves and (everyone says it but it’s true) grass. But this stuff is creamy (probably from the milk) and light and ever so slightly peachy. I need more flavors, but don’t want to hoard in case it goes bad….
ED: This doesn’t stay suspended and settles at the bottom as you drink it, so you have to keep shaking it up. I don’t mind, but you might?
