From Cultured Cup

A popular flavored white tea, White Riesling is a Bai Mu Dan white tea delightfully flavored with dried Riesling grapes and blue cornflower petals. Very high in antioxidants, this white tea’s flavor is soft, slightly floral and subtly sweet. The fruit of the natural grape flavor balances it nicely.

This is one of those reviews where it starts off positive but ends strangely. Not negative, just kinda weird. The dry and wet aroma are start off nice. Sweet but balanced. Once the second steeping is done that disappears and the weirdness starts. I don’t think the flavoring was necessary. Whenever there is flavoring it leaves a weird after taste in my mouth. But beyond that, it makes for a pretty good cup. Slightly sweet in taste.
Color is golden, clear amber which is slightly darker than a riesling but not by much.
Fairly silky mouthfeel. The second steeping is still sweet but with an interesting tannic, almost granite note. I feel like I just licked a new granite countertop. Or maybe just a huge slab of unfinished granite, after it rained hard.

LOL! I’ve found some “like licking a rock” notes in teas before too. XD

Hah, I am glad I am not only one who thought I was drinking/licking a rock. I completely understand what do you mean with it.

Dustin

I can almost smell wet granite now!

Skysamurai

I thank my younger self for those experiences.

I read an article by someone who was going to culinary school. She said they literally went on field trips and licked rocks!

A friend who lives in Dallas sent me a few teas from The Cultured Cup, including this one, and all of them were excellent! This particular blend isn’t my favorite, just because I’m not the biggest fan of grape-flavored things, but it’s definitely great quality tea. Huge, unbroken white tea leaves that give off a soft flavor that really does remind me of white wine.

Advent from Inkling, day 18! Wow, this is one of the best white teas I’ve ever had. The black curates are distinct without being acerbic. Smells like honeyed fruits. The flavor is also surprisingly bold for a white tea.
