Thanks, darby!

I brewed this pretty strong and then added milk and ice to it. It is very strange…it tastes like it’s alcoholic and not in a bad way at all like many other times things taste like alcohol. It tastes like a mudslide…or a mudslide made with rum. So weird! I think it’s the pecan and caramel together. Or at least the caramel, because it tastes like caramel and then fades into rum. I enjoy it very much because no drinking is actually required for such a flavor!

I think that’s the best way to describe it…like a mudslide. I was hoping more like melted chocolate caramel ice cream in flavor right now, but I won’t complain about this!

Could use a bit more chocolate…but it has the perfect amount of caramel. The nuttiness adds just the right touch too.

have you tried the Cashew Turtle tea from 52teas? Reading this review is making me crave it!

momo

Yes, someone sent me some in a swap way back and I have been holding onto it. I wonder if I still have a cup left from the 12 teas of Christmas box because I probably drank the first cup and then wanted to hoard it without ever bothering to try it again and realize if I needed to get a pouch of it later or not hahaha.

Daisy Chubb

It’s definitely one worthy of hoarding ;)

I’ve tried a bunch of teas over the past few days but it’s been pretty crazy over here so I haven’t logged them. I’ll try and get back on track! This tea smells awesome. The flavors are good and all present (Chocolate, caramel, nut), but I wish the black tea base was a little stronger. It gets tastier as it cools. I’ll definitely enjoy the rest of my sample, but I doubt I’ll reorder.

But….this sounds so delicious…

This is the best chocolate tea I’ve had! Very, very chocolatey. I’m also tasting just a hint of nut and caramel. I wouldn’t really call this Chocolate Caramel Turtle tea, I would just call it CHOCOLATE tea. Will be repurchasing this once my sample runs out. Prepared with almond milk and stevia.

Batrachoid

Maybe try it with chocolate hazelnut milk. Such a shame pecan milk isn’t available. I’d probably drown in the stuff.

Momo box tea!

My highly trained sister cold-steeped this one when she finished off the prairie berry icedtea thismorning. This one is very artificial in a way I can’t make up my mind about. It’s almost like a chocolate liquor with xanthum gum flavoring. I can’t really taste the base over all the flavoring I might add some coconut milk to the second half of the glass. That is only if I can move from where I am- so sore from kettlebell class last night!

After reading my notes from yesterday, Dexter3657 was getting worried that she’s made poor choices for me when picking teas. Well, Dex, you’re batting a thousand right now. All teas tried today were good. Not va va voom or anything, but good.

This tea is one that delivers. The smell of the dry leaf, and the flavour are bang on chocolate and caramel. Clear caramel liquor. I sweetened it and added creamer and I am already looking forward to steep 2. The tea itself is actually pretty weak, I had to brew longer than my usual rule of thumb for black tea so I doubt it will resteep 3 times with good result but another round should be just fine.

I received another sampling of this tea thanks to Ost – thank you! I know this tea wasn’t one of your favorites, but I did enjoy it the first time I tried it and I’m enjoying it now. I think that the chocolate notes would be better achieved if they used cacao shells rather than just the flavoring because there is a tad of an artificial-ness going on with this particular cup. Not bad, but it doesn’t taste as truly chocolate as I would like it to.

The caramel notes are nice and I can taste a hint of what is somewhat nutty but because it’s called a ‘turtle’ I think I’d like a little more nutty flavor.

Kittenna

Now that I’ve discovered cacao shells, I’m also wondering why their use is limited in teas – they certainly produce a much more natural (and tasty!) flavour. Perhaps it is just easier to use bottled flavourings.

LiberTEAS

I agree. I think they also produce a better flavor than cacao nibs. A combination of both shells and nibs would be amazing.

Why do teas keep confusing me? This is chocolate, no doubt about the chocolate, and I got some nutty goodness, didn’t really taste the caramel. My problem with this was that it was bitter. I can’t decide if the the black tea was bitter, or if it was dark chocolate bitter. This tasted like really dark chocolate with nuts. If you are a dark chocolate lover, you will probably like this. I would have preferred it to be a little sweeter, and more milk chocolaty.
Not bad but not my favorite.

Brewed this with 200°F water for 3 minutes and then put the pitcher in the refrigerator overnight. I did not add any additives. Enjoying a thermos of it iced today.

The flavor is good, more chocolate to me than caramel. I also notice a sort of alcohol like quality to it. It tastes a little like a good truffle actually. For me, though, the aftertaste undermines it. It’s got that strange aftertaste that I detect in many flavored teas, and it just lingers. I just don’t like the aftertaste.

My partner is going to be jealous that I’m trying this one without her!

This is my first log from the huuuge variety of teas that I got from LiberTEAs, and one that I knew I’d enjoy as soon as I opened the package to have a sniff… Mmmm.

This tastes more nutty and caramel-y than chocolatey to me, which is not what I expected from the smell, but still very enjoyable. I decided to try this one out instead of drinking hot chocolate – the snow is coming down like crazy – and it’s definitely a suitable replacement. Warm and sweet and soothing. I’m glad I brewed enough for a big mugful.
