I’ve been making this as a cold brew, and it’s pretty good. The lime flavor is present, but not quite as strong and juicy as I would like… It has a nice citrusy tang, but pales in comparison to the lime flavoring used by 52Teas. The oolong provides a pretty vegetal backbone that enhances the slight cucumber notes and goes nicely with the citrus, too. It’s pretty gulpable as an ice cold drink.

The name and dry leaf aroma suggests lime and salt (margarita) but it steeps up as a nutty cucumber tea that may have looked at a lime one summer back in ‘96. Despite being a tea full of lies, it’s still refreshing and makes for a great cold brew.

The flavor is just plain, minerally oolong. I don’t taste any lime or cucumber…maybe cucumber skin if I’m really trying to picture it? I’m not an oolong fan, so this isn’t really for me, unfortunately. Cold, it’s fine, but there’s a hint of bitterness since I didn’t know how long to steep this for and the website didn’t say – I guessed three minutes, which may not have been right. This has such a vegetal flavor that I wouldn’t have tried it if not for the advent calendar.

Advent Day 8

Catching up on some advent tasting notes. This would probably be much better iced, but it’s actually nice hot as well. It’s a very fresh, green tasting oolong, with mild notes of lime and cucumber.

Adventaggedon Day 8: Tea 4/7

I think I’m an outlier but I really do love teas with cucumber. I find these more cucumber forward than lime, so it’s maybe not the most accurate name. However, the crisp vegetal cucumber pulp and skin notes work super well with the more green and nutty oolong base and the slight lime undertones almost give this a “spa like” sort of vibe in terms of refreshing/hydrating mellow flavour.

I was going to cold brew this today but I realized I didn’t have time to do a second cold brew and still give it the steep time it deserved so I made my cup hot with a little squeeze of fresh lime to boost the citrus since I was making nachos for lunch anyway and already had the lime out to do the same thing to my nachos.

2021 Advent Calendar Day 8

Kind of knew that I might not like this one. Cucumber is not meant to be in teas. It wasn’t a tea I dumped out but it’s definitely not on my buy again list. But if you like Cucumber infusions, it probably is one you might like
