The dry tea bag smells like cherry bubble gum, while the brewed tea
smells like a cross between cherry and the body shop cranberry smell (I worked there during University so this smell is way to familiar).

Pleasantly fruity taste that is not too sweet, despite the smell of the dry bag ( I like this because than you can choose to sweeten it as you like). The base has a deep fruity taste ( referencing black berries) with a bit of bitterness from malt that goes nicely with the flavouring. The tea is not very tart which you might expect with a cranberry flavouring, but there is a little bit of this that becomes more apparent as you drink down the cup. The flavouring and the tea blend well with each other neither overpowering the other. Not bad for a bagged tea ( though they do sell loose leaf as well). Basilur Canada’s webstore is online. http://www.basilurtea.ca/. Their “Autumn” tea is a maple tea I might just have to try it out.

The dry tea smells AMAZING. The cranberries lend their unique scent to create a strong, pleasant aroma that made me smile even as I was just opening the package.

That being said, I’m not sure I quite did this tea justice. Having no instructions to go off of, I defaulted to a heaping teaspoon in my two cupper with boiling water for five minutes. Unfortunately, the result seems oversteeped. The cranberries come through decently, but are still somewhat overpowered by the bitter tea, which is a shame. With milk added, the bitterness mainly goes away, leaving the cranberry taste. Overall good, but not as amazing as the scent.

Took again a tea bag from my big bags section and I haven’t took a bag from those for long. Mostly because most of the blends doesn’t sound good, or I would rather try something loose leaf than those old tea bags. But while searching for a needle in a haystack I found foilwrapped this tea bag, a tea I always wanted to try.

I steeped it for 3 minutes (there weren’t any steeping parameters on the wrapper), with boiling water.

Definitely a better base than MlesnA uses in their bags. Malty and lightly citrusy and certainly not bitter base. Combined with fruity and sweett cranberry flavour, just top-notch of those berries to keep it fruity but not tart.

In conclusion, a wonderful cup, but for calling it winter… I miss something. Probably some spice hints.

Last year, I bought a holiday assortment from Basilur with names like “Merry Christmas” and “Christmas Tree.” None of them tasted anything like their titles, but they were delicious anyway!

I consider Basilur as one of the brands with best price/value ratio!

Superanna bought me three of the Basilur love story “tea books.” They are metal tins shaped like a book and the tea is in a pouch inside. I finished all the tea but I kept the books and store samples in them!

I’m learning that Basilur’s flavor strategy is subtle and elegant. I don’t have an elegant bone in my body but I admire elegance when I see it. In this case, the cranberry sneaks up behind the tea instead of leading the parade. Fruity, not tart. Perfect to savor on a quiet Christmas afternoon. Hope your day was savor-worthy, too.

Happy Christmas to you, gmathis!

Merry Christmas!

That sounds really good to me! Cranberry often needs to sneak up. It can be a bit too forward. Merry Christmas!

How i got it: Bought It (Basilur’s “Four Seasons” Assorted Pack)

Experience: Since the moment i looked at the package and saw “cranberries”, i lost quite a bit of confidence, thinking this tea would be similar to those berry tisanes i run away from. But in the end, it turned out to be a nice surprise. While its aroma is indeed dominated by the cranberry, its taste is a nicely equilibrated mix between the frutal flavor of the cranberries and the gentle bitterness of the ceylon, which prevents this tea to become unpleasantly acidic. Now, i have a bit more appreciation for the fruits on my tea. Very good.

Would i buy it again?: I think this one has good posibilities.
