From Alice's Fine Teas

This bloom unfolds into beautiful birds perched in a golden nest surround by green. Not only is it visually surprising, but the taste is surprisingly spicy and reminds one of autumn, like pumpkin pie!. One of the favorites at Alice’s Fine Teas, a delicious, warm, soothing tea. Ingredients: Marigold (believed to help circulation and ease stomach ache), Lily (said to enhance energy and to have a cooling effect) and Silver Needle Tea

I was skeptical…was this one REALLY going to taste like pumpkin?

Guess what…it DOES taste like pumpkin…maybe more of a butternut squash with yummy spice notes underneath! Okay…as it cools at room temperature it does taste more like pumpkin…not really pumpkin pie, but pumpkin. It’s almost like a flavored silver needle! Very nice – very surprising! Slightly peppery in the middle of the sip but finishing somewhat soothing and flatter.

After 4 minutes of steeping this one, the bulb had not completely opened yet – I can just see the very tip of the bloom that will present itself with the next infusion.

This is REALLY good. One of the best blooming teas I’ve tasted in a long time (of course, I can’t really remember when the last time was that I’ve had a blooming tea… unless you count the red peony rosette from Teany that I had this morning… but I don’t consider it to be a “blooming tea” because it doesn’t really bloom). It really does taste like pumpkin and spice! Delicious!

I steeped this a total of 3 times so that the bloom could completely unfurl. It’s beautiful! It looks like two swans dancing! The flavor was delightful for all three infusions too. Pumpkin spice for the first two, and the third had hints of pumpkin spice with a fresh, buttery creaminess at the end. Nice!
