From Ahmad Tea

Delicate green China long leaves with the young buds of the Jasmine Flower create this exotic tea. An exquisite blend with a subtle, light flavour and aroma, Jasmine Green Tea is a fragrant and relaxing beverage. Best served, hot or cold, without milk.

Much better than the Impra from this morning. Still an inexpensive bagged tea but the jasmine is very natural. The standard Chinese green base is nice and vegetal. A good bagged choice.

Ah, your Ahmad Tea notes are making me curious! I’ll take a clue from you and try some the next time I see the brand (which is often).

The bag has a sweet jasmine aroma, as does the tea, though without milk and sugar it tastes like straw, and rather bitter and astringent. I should say I am not a great fan of green tea, which often tastes like straw to me. Sweetener brings out the jasmine taste, and the addition of some milk reduces the bitterness, but doesn’t get rid of the straw taste entirely. The jasmine flavor is pleasant enough; I just can’t manage to like the green tea.

Used 1.5 tsp per 10 oz water at 180F. The dry leaf is a deep dark green, whole leaf with a slight twist. I sprayed it with cool water and let it absorb a minute before I poured the hot water. After a 2.5 min steep, I decanted a medium gold-green liquor with a barely perceptible haziness. The jasmine and tea aromas blend well and seem quite natural. The flavor is less astringent, more mature, and sweeter than the last cup of this tea; I credit the pre-steep wetting of the leaves for the improved qualities. A resteep of 5 min gave me a cup which was milder, less floral, yet drinkable.
