247 Tasting Notes
This tea has a very grassy, woodsy scent to it and it tastes the way roasted chestnuts smell. I definitely taste a nutty (but not chestnut) background.
Edit: This is definitely only a hot tea, I thought I finished my cup and then realized there was still tea left 20 minutes later. Definitely not a fan of this after it cools D:
Flavors: Grass, Roasted, Wood
I knew I wasn’t going to like this one when I picked it out but I need to get through this box of teas from my swap. It’s got a strange aftertaste, similar to stevia. The ginger smells much stronger in the bag than it does when steeped which is a let down and the hibiscus is very overwhelming. I’m definitely going to have my boyfriend try this one – he always seems to like the ones I don’t.
I don’t usually go for oolongs, but this one came in the swap box I got today. After totally oversteeping another (flavored black) tea earlier, I decided to try this one in increments to see if the flavors change/become more pronounced.
After 3 minutes: very light, vegetal flavor
After 5 minutes: starting to taste the cream, milky/buttery flavor
6 minutes: creamy flavor is much more pronounced
8 minutes: starts to lose flavor and become sharp and bitter
10 minutes: Suddenly tastes floral… strange.
I’m really really trying to get into more sophisticated teas and I think drinking this one incrementally helped.
Flavors: Butter, Floral, Milk, Vegetal
I got this one that was accidentally mixed with Winter Warmth and it tastes like Christmas! In a good way! It has a subtle blend of spice and the black tea is pretty mellow but I think I can taste a bit of pine? This is definitely one that I’ll have to share with my boyfriend – he looooves spicy teas.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Pine, Spices
I just did a swap on /r/teaexchange and got my box today. It was filled to the brim with lots of goodies I have to try! Generally my tea collection is flavored and a lot of the stuff she sent me is unflavored, so of course I had to start with what I felt most comfortable with – an herbal.
This guy is great! Crisp, tart taste, akin to that of Bear Trap from Davids or Berry Kiwi Colada from Teavana. I can taste a faint berry flavor, but I can’t distinguish which berry… I’d still drink a cup of Bear Trap or Berry Kiwi Colada over this one, but it’s a welcome addition to the collection and will definitely go into my regular rotation!
Flavors: Berry, Hibiscus, Lemon
Normally I try to ration out my bagged tea for when I’ll be on the go but this morning I needed something with a little kick to get my butt in gear.
I tried my hardest to pick out all the flavors – it’s definitely got some spice to it (but just enough & not too much) and I can taste the ginger and maybe a bit of nutmeg/cinnamon/allspice action. The orange is subtle and I like that since I don’t care for orange in my tea, and the green tea base lets the flavors shine.
Flavors: Ginger, Orange, Spices
I steeped this awhile ago and while waiting for it to cool, started on a quilt and completely forgot about it.
So… impressions of it at room temp:
tart, lemon flavor is a bit more prominent, strawberry & raspberry notes distinguish themselves a bit more and it has a “crisp” after taste. I’m also tasting a bit more apple.
Flavors: Apple, Lemon, Raspberry, Strawberry, Tart
This tea is bizarre to me. It tastes exactly like how it smells, but I can’t pick out all the flavors. I can definitely taste the pistachio notes, but also a bit of almond(?) and I taste some floral as well but it doesn’t taste like biscotti at all. Normally, I hate floral teas but this one is alright.
Interestingly enough, this tea reminds me exactly of the Tea Guys Factory store in Whately.
Flavors: Almond, Floral, Nutty
