15 Tasting Notes
This tea is bright and citrusy with a nice ginger burn at the end. Aptly named as well – I am usually buzzing with energy after drinking this. Overall a very pleasant tea which I will absolutely buy again.
I think DavidsTea often gets a bad rap around here for some reason. I find that their teas are consistently delicious – I really don’t understand all the tea snobbery. :\
Flavors: Citrus, Ginger, Lemongrass
Preparation
This is a staple tea for me. I have a cup most evenings. Pleasantly minty and soothing. Very forgiving with steeping as well – I often go 10 minutes or more. Occasionally I add a scoop of chamomile that I grew in my garden which adds a nice flavor.
I don’t personally believe that any of the ingredients are genuine sleep aids, but they sure taste nice and there is no caffeine. It’s also excellent for when you’re sick thanks to the soothing mintyness. Very cheap too – a full tin is about $10 if I remember correctly.
Preparation
Very nice straight black tea. The leaves have almost no odor when dry. The brewed taste is earthy, malty and sweet. Very mellow and smooth. In some ways it reminds me of the wild mountain yunnan black tea I’ve had before, but it’s way less astringent with no trace of bitterness at all. Nice way to start my morning.
Preparation
Yummm. Davidstea pumpkin chai has finally met it’s match for me. Nice smooth and mellow black tea (which you can actually taste!) with a wonderful pumpkin pie aftertaste. Love this one. Not bitter even despite being forgetful and steeping for way too long.
Preparation
Very good. I may have oversteeped this as it was a little bit bitter – still quite good though. I found this very smooth, creamy and a little bit astringent. There is a definitely cheesecake aftertaste to it which was surprisingly authentic-tasting. Next time I think I’ll add sweetener and see how that changes the flavor. Definitely a keeper.
Preparation
I really like this one. Very mellow and sweet – definitely notes of honey and fruit in there. I like how both the color and flavor seemed to grow with each successive steep. I did 5 steeps of this and didn’t notice a drop in flavor. I find it fascinating that little insects give this it’s unique flavor too – all around a very neat tea!
Preparation
Very interesting. Shared a pot of this with my sister. Color-wise the tea is a very light cream color, almost clear in the pot. The taste is very smooth, a little sweet and reminiscent of lima beans, spinach and hay to me. Is that what people mean when they say a tea has vegetal notes? In any case this was a very pleasant tea, if a little strange. (bearing in mind that this is my first ever really high quality straight green)
This tea is wonderful. My first ever tie guan yin so that may bias this review a bit. ;) The dry smell is sweet and floral. Once steeped the leaves unfurl and become huge and beautiful – it was very entertaining to watch the process through a clear pot. The taste is rich, very sweet, floral and smooth. For me it brings to mind the smells of summer and lilacs in bloom. One of the best teas I’ve ever had, and definitely one I’ll re-order.
Preparation
Delicious. Delicate with a very nice (and not at all fake-tasting) cantaloupe flavor. Beautiful leaves both dry and wet. I tried some of this from my sister’s Butiki order and will definitely be getting some of my own next time!
Preparation
I’ve never had plum pudding so I really can’t compare this tea to the real thing – that said this is very tasty. It’s like warm spice bread with a hint of fruity plum and a nice rum-like aftertaste. I steeped this one 3 times and it never really lost flavor. Definitely a keeper!
