94 Tasting Notes
When I smelled the bag I thought I would hate it (I notice this becoming a trend with fruit teas, I should learn) Anyway, this is a nice tea, the tea really is smooth and there’s just enough mango flavor. I like how it’s naturally sweet but not too sweet.
Preparation
Finally used enough to make a nice strong cup. Note to self: used one teaspoon with small blue cup.
1st infusion: I think I’ve discovered the meaning of malty. This was a nice wake up kick. Also, got more tea flavor this time instead of just bergamot. Might be a little too strong for me, but maybe it’ll just be a new stage in tea drinking.
2nd infusion: More drinkable, less of a kick, more soothing. Still a fan of how great this is without sugar and milk. =]
Update: 3rd infusion: More like bergamot scented hot water, but in my opinion, still plenty yummy.
This could be one of those “now that I’ve tasted loose leaf, I’m never going back.” It really is much better than bagged tea. I never thought I would drink a black tea this smooth. The flavor isn’t very strong because I didn’t use much leaf and I put it in a big cup, but it’s still really good.
I say it could be one, because while I like it a lot, 1) I don’t have the budget to buy as many different kinds of loose leaf tea as I have in bagged tea and 2) this tea still isn’t good enough to make me unlazy. I’m glad I bought a tin of loose leaf so that I can enjoy the good stuff when I like and still throw teabags around when I just don’t want to think too much about the particulars of my tea.
Preparation
Tried to make an earl grey latte to mimic the london fog latte at starbucks. Got soymilk hot enough to bubble, but there wasn’t much flavor at all. I think the lack of vanilla might be a factor, or maybe bigelow just isn’t strong enough of a tea. I might try two bags next time and see what happens. Or I’ll just stick with rooibos based teas, those seem to work pretty well.
Tastes pretty much like the cinnamon orange version. I looked at the ingredients and it looks like the same stuff just in different proportions. Anyway, this tea is great. If anything, it might be a little less sweet than the cinnamon orange one, but still plenty sweet. And I bought a nice value pack from costco, it was an amazing deal!
And to note, three steeps from one bag in my oversized cup. A little watery on the last one but not bad.
Just bought I box of this. I tastes pretty much like the Bigelow Orange and Spice, at least I couldn’t notice much based on my memory. If anything, I think there’s something a little stronger here, either more orange oil or one of the spices is stronger. Anyway, I like both of the teas, but not orange black teas. Iono why, but I’m glad I bought this! (and at $2, why not?)
