This was brewed way too strong for me (I didn’t have a hand in brewing it), so it was quite astringent. So much so, that I could barely finish my cup. It is too bad, because I find jasmine teas very difficult to mess up. The base was slightly vegetal/grassy and a bit musty (like old green tea that has been sitting for many years), the flowers lend a bit of bitterness, but also a floral aroma and a slight sweetness. Unfortunately I am not sure if this tea is usually like this or if it was just brewed incorrectly, but it did not impress me at all.

Queued tasting note from Sunday at the spa. :)

Strong flavours of strawberry, berries, currents, and chicory root (sweetness). Slightly tart, but it was brewed well and wasn’t overpowering strong. Notes of sour rosehips/hibiscus/rhubarb, fruity blackberry. I enjoyed the current and strawberry combination, and liked that this was not too sour. I think it would do well cold brewed as well.

Whoops! I found some in a container. I forgot I had snagged some before my mom took it all.

I like this one. Lots of honey notes. I think I like it more than Davids, but I’ll have to try that one again… maybe tomorrow morning. :)

One of my facebook friends linked to a post-academia blog post, and I’m FASCINATED. The whole movement sounds incredible. I think I’ll be exploring it more, especially since my supervisor (I work as a tech) is trying to get me to do grad school, and I really don’t want to unless I a) get funding and b) get to do something I think is super rad.

Best way to describe this Rooibos is liquid cinnamon hearts! Super sweet tea that I used for iced tea yet the tea doesn’t list any sugar or stevia etc in the ingredients. Very different from other Rooibos teas that I have had. The lady at Winstons brewed me a sample of it. I found it was so different I had to get some. The fact that it was naturally sweet and such a strong cinnamon flavour was a selling feature for me. When I make this as iced tea I have to mix it with a bit of decaf black tea to cut down on the sweetness. I don’t really measure it but I would say 1 part of the decaf black to 2 or 3 parts Marketspice tea. Very different but good.

Not for me, it smells better than it tastes, it’s very flat when a person associates sweet with caramel.

I mixed it with DAVIDs “Oh Canada” – it works at least I am not wasting the tea this way.

Undecided..?

It smells so deliciously of caramel I was a little un-nerved that once iced all I could taste rooibos, although there is a distinct finish of caramel with each sip. I think this might be better hot with some steamed milk.

Had this a few times but kept forgetting to log it.

It was a present from my friend. There’s… not much information on the Winston’s Tea Company website. It smells of cinnamon and orange. Well, mostly cinnamon; the website only confirms that it contains cinnamon.

So much cinnamon.

It’s quite spicy. I’d try it with milk, but that seems kind of weird with orange. At least I’m assuming orange is the fruit I’m smelling—could actually be apple. It’s really hard to tell, I can’t pick it up much mixed with the cinnamon.

It’s certainly not an everyday tea for me. Makes me think of Christmas, though. Spice and fruit.

I agree w/ the milk. This is one spiced tea I’d never add milk too… although would be better as an iced latte. Make ice cream out of it? Darn you though, in looking for this link I found they have a lemon berry sage black tea that I now think I need. Oh well, I’ll wait for summer… would be a good lemonade substitute I think.:)

Latte sounds like a good idea, actually; iced would help with the overpowering cinnamon, I think.

I thought it smelled like Christmas too!!! This is one of the constant sellers at “Winston’s” in Naniamo, and she has bags upon bags of it, and dear lord the next time I have an empty tin it is going with me to Naniamo!

This steep was more successful than the first one I did at my mothers house. Maybe it is the mug? Everything tastes better in my over sized Starbucks Whistler Mug! (I guess I am those people who require their serving sizes to be 16oz and incredibly weak.

I breath in strawberries and lemons and something else, this tea would kick A$$ iced! because as it cools it is becoming eerily more and more refreshing.

Mmmmm.

This is roasted so well, it tastes like coffee but without that terrible acid reflux, AND there is a distinct chocolate scent/flavour that gives this the potential for a yummy chocolate latte!!
