For National Blueberry Cheesecake Day courtesy of Devon Bartholomew.

I know this is one of Devon’s favorites, so I was excited to get to try it! There is a strong blueberry aroma, as there should be, and a sweetness that I can’t identify. I’m sure it’s the honey flavoring, but it doesn’t really smell like honey. It’s definitely unique. No honey in the flavor either, but I can taste the blueberry. I’m glad it was a black base and not an herbal. I always like a fruity black tea, and the convenience of a tea bag is an added benefit.

This is a backlog. This tea tastes like a good pleasant black tea with a slight cranberry apple flavor. Added some sugar. I wish it had a stronger cranberry and apple flavor. Good not incredible though. Hope everyone is staying safe and warm. And I’m happily getting my cuppa geek tea order tomorrow.

2020 Advent Swap – Day 21

A classic flavor – nothing fancy but yummy.

I love both chai spices and vanilla. I also love trying new-to-me tea companies. This tea seemed like a win, and I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, the base flavor was weak, and the chai spices were not present. Devon Bartholomew said this one is yummy, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. It was not bold or flavorful in any way. I couldn’t find an ingredient list online, but it smells somewhat sweet in the package. Maybe there is licorice root? I’m guessing that’s supposed to be the vanilla. There were no spices in the aroma. What a bummer, not because it was necessarily a bad tea but because it wasn’t at all what I expected it to be.

I don’t remember what I wrote in the note, but I’ll send you the rest of the box if you want it :)

I just posted my note! Thanks for the opportunity to try it, but this one wasn’t for me.

Devon Bartholomew

Sorry! Yeah I got excited when I saw it only had one box left in the store. I’ll put it out on my tea groups to see if anyone wants me to send it to them.

I was disappointed, cause I really loved their BlueBerry Honey Ceylon, so had my hopes up this might be another good one from that company.

Shae

No worries! I was glad to try a new company. I hadn’t heard of them before. And it wasn’t even bad, it just didn’t taste like much.

I bought this from the Dollar Tree, cause the name sounded fabulous – I had my first cup, and it smelled fabulous – I love Ceylon tea. I brewed it for the max recommended time and felt like it needed a teaspoon of sugar – I normally dont sweeten my teas with anything, but once I added the sugar, it was soooooo good. I went and looked online, and they dont show up on the TEViVe website, so I guess they were discontinued. I went and looked at the other Dollar Tree in town – they had eight boxes left, so I bought five more – this is definitely one of my regular teas.

I picked a box of this tea up from Dollar Tree. Why I insist on still giving TEViVe a try, especially from Dollar Tree is beyond me, but the flavors sounded so tempting and I figured for a dollar I couldn’t go wrong. Well, I was wrong. Again.

They come in 20 packets and out of the packet the aroma is intoxicating. I was excited to give it a go. One bag gave the water a nice color but produced zero flavor, so I upped the amount. I am using an 8oz. mug so I opted to use 3 bags and even still the amount of flavor is so minuscule that I need to add two scoops of sugar (substitute) to make it drinkable.

This one isn’t horrible. It just fails to inspire even a review that would negate or favor the flavor as there is none in my opinion.

While the smell was promising, it did not live up in flavor. I paid $1.00 for it (from Dollar Tree) and it tastes like it.

I’ve had low priced teas surprise me, but this wasn’t one of them. I didn’t find it to be an undrinkable tea, but it is not something I’d buy again.

I’m going to play around with temperature and steep times to see if anything changes and, if so, I’ll edit my review. I may try a cold brew of this, as well.

EDIT TO UPDATE:

I’ve tried this tea at various temperatures and steep times, from 175 degrees to 212 degrees, and from 3 minutes to upwards of 6-7 minutes and have noticed no significant increase in flavor.

Additionally, I did a cold brew two different times with this tea, once as a stand alone, and once mixed with another tea I used as a base. While not undrinkable the flavor was uninspiring. I wouldn’t have known I was drinking a blueberry flavored tea had I not brewed it myself.

I won’t be purchasing this one again.
