Iced Latte Sipdown (288)
Thank you for sharing Roswell Strange but this is like all other cacao teas and they just aren’t for me. I got more earthiness/muddiness than I do chocolate. The best part of this iced latte is the whipped cream and chocolate syrup but if that’s why I am drinking a tea, I suppose it doesn’t matter what tea it is.
We were cleaning up one of the meeting rooms in the office that we use for tea storage and Marika happened to stumble upon a large, forgotten bag of this delicious cocoa that had just been sitting untouched in the back of a cupboard. She was gonna give me the full bag, but I convinced her to take some for herself too because it’s the best cacao shell tea I’ve ever tried. Honestly, the timing of finding the bag was great because the bag I already had was getting looowwwww…
Anyway, of course I treated myself to a mug of this as soon as I got home. It’s so smooth and rich tasting. I’m not exactly huge of chocolate teas, but this is a whole other beast. On top of such a decadent chocolate notes it’s also almost caramel-like with just enough natural sweetness to curb those evening cravings. I almost regret convincing her to take some of the bag. Almost.
Steeped this one up over the weekend!
My brain was at the level of tired where I could not think of words to describe the taste other than “really good” but, like, it’s really good. It always blows my mind how just cacao shells can make for this flavourful and rich of a brew. I’m nearly out of my bag and I don’t think I’ll have the ability to restock at all and that makes me sad. Very sad.
Flavors: Chocolate, Earthy, Milk Chocolate, Rich
Quite dense, rich and chocolate-y – like the foundation for a really good cup of hot cocoa but without the milk added to it or any fun additions like marshmallows. It’s fucking amazing for a chocolate profile, though! What really gets me, however, is how it can have this natural fruitiness to it as well that still works so brilliantly, but confusingly, well. I guess I know cacao from different regions of the world have unique tasting notes – like any other harvested thing, and Equadorian chocolate is known for being a bit fruitier. It’s just so crazy seeing that in practice THIS clearly!!
I’ve had a lot of really mediocre “cacao shell tea” over the years, so I had low expectations for this one – but but it was gifted to me by a coworker and I figured I’d give it a shot. I steeped it about ten minutes since I know it takes longer for cacao teas to infuse, and even with that steep time I worried I may have cut it short. However, this was the MOST flavourful cacao shell tea I have ever had!
It was fucking AMAZING! Incredibly rich, sweet and dense chocolate flavours that tasted so pure. The liquor was very thin feeling, which was strange given the richness of the infusion, but that is my only criticism – this was otherwise amazing. Like drinking the world’s best hot chocolate.
Wow. Wow. Wow.
