This is one of those reviews where it starts off positive but ends strangely. Not negative, just kinda weird. The dry and wet aroma are start off nice. Sweet but balanced. Once the second steeping is done that disappears and the weirdness starts. I don’t think the flavoring was necessary. Whenever there is flavoring it leaves a weird after taste in my mouth. But beyond that, it makes for a pretty good cup. Slightly sweet in taste.
Color is golden, clear amber which is slightly darker than a riesling but not by much.
Fairly silky mouthfeel. The second steeping is still sweet but with an interesting tannic, almost granite note. I feel like I just licked a new granite countertop. Or maybe just a huge slab of unfinished granite, after it rained hard.
A friend who lives in Dallas sent me a few teas from The Cultured Cup, including this one, and all of them were excellent! This particular blend isn’t my favorite, just because I’m not the biggest fan of grape-flavored things, but it’s definitely great quality tea. Huge, unbroken white tea leaves that give off a soft flavor that really does remind me of white wine.
Flavors: White Grapes, White Wine
Preparation
I had this lovely tea at a meetup with my local lolita* fashion community! I love myself a ginger tea in any form and if I had to choose, white tea is certainly my favorite.
The ginger came through fairly strong (as one would expect) both in the tin and in the cup, but as most good flavored white tea blends, the ginger surprisingly didn’t overshadow the flavor of the white tea itself. The use of what seemed to be a white peony blend should be the reason for that. I am so terribly sad it seems that The Cultured Cup seems to have discontinued this blend. I am absolutely up for recommendations regarding substitutes.
*lolita fashion is a Japanese fashion that is inspired by Victorian and Rococo fashions. It bears no link to the novel of the same name.
Flavors: Ginger, Pear

Advent from Inkling, day 18! Wow, this is one of the best white teas I’ve ever had. The black curates are distinct without being acerbic. Smells like honeyed fruits. The flavor is also surprisingly bold for a white tea.
Preparation
A friend who lives in Dallas recently sent me the loveliest surprise package containing 3 tea blends from “The Cultured Cup”. I had never heard of this company, but I must say, I’m impressed with the quality of their tea! This one is a lovely smooth, rich black tea with just the right amount of maple flavoring and a touch of cinnamon. So warming and comforting for this cold wintery weather we’re currently experiencing in the Midwest!
Flavors: Cinnamon, Maple Syrup, Smooth
LOL! I’ve found some “like licking a rock” notes in teas before too. XD
Hah, I am glad I am not only one who thought I was drinking/licking a rock. I completely understand what do you mean with it.
I can almost smell wet granite now!
I thank my younger self for those experiences.
I read an article by someone who was going to culinary school. She said they literally went on field trips and licked rocks!
