1598 Tasting Notes
After my freak-out “Help Will” tea, I basically started from scratch on the thing I was doing and now it works: http://www.mindwarpfx.com/gallery/index.php! I made a gallery! There are tons of gross pictures from Hannibal there, and it works on touch screens and multiple devices! (hopefully) YAY!
(Also, I am ridic proud of this gallery since I basically taught myself HTML 16 years ago, and haven’t really used it since so I am making stuff up as I go, googling like crazy and learning tons of things! AND getting paid to do so!)
This lovely banana chocolate tea is my reward.
Obligatory Hannibal quote: This is my design. :P
ETA: whoops. The tea is gone and so is my celebration. The gallery doesn’t loaf on my phone… Gotta steep on it further…
Help Will?
Pshaw. What about help me? Stupid website stuff not doing what it’s supposed to and I’ll just cut and paste more php here and see what happens? No???
I’m a fly by the seat of my pants website coder. Sometimes that works well. Other times….
OH HAI WILL! This tea is superb actually. CHOCOLATE. Yes.
(I think everything will be ok)
I hope you try the show out sometime – it’s really well done, albeit a little slow to begin with. A lot of people dont’ like it because of the gore, but there’s a huge difference to me between splat!gore and artfullyarranged!gore. :P Well, it’s still awful but everything in this show is presented so beautifully.
ALSO: I just realized you have a DINOASAUR icon. <3
I’m on episode 7, season 1 ! Working on it. I like the gore, and the design of it all. Plus, as a fan of Kids in the Hall and The X-Files and everything, the casting is AMAZING. But it’s nice to hear that it starts a little slow. I’m getting the sense it’s building up to itself, even moreso than other shows. I’ll get back to you after a few more episodes :)
Excellent! I’m glad you’re enjoying it! I think it’s a great show, but it seems to have rather limited appeal based on the ratings.
We are just finishing building bodies etc for the second season right now, so I have my fingers crossed that we will get renewed for Season 3! I just love that I am part of this show, even if I’m only tangentially a part of it (in the office ordering stuff and building website, rather than actually building dead people).
Yeah. It’s really not a good idea to actually build dead people. It never seems to work out well. ;-p
YOU’RE PART OF THE SHOW?? 0_0 !!!! Wow, awesome awesome – even my dinosaur-riding Batman icon is impressed haha
Ahahahaha. I am ridic proud that I even sorta connected to the show. :P The company I work for builds all the bodies and does the prosthetics/special make-up. I was a pretty big fan of the show BEFORE I started; now I’m out of control. I get to read the scripts and help plan what we need to build, so I know how Season Two will end and I cannot tell anyone.
/dies/
It’s the best job. Even if I have to peel silicone off of tables and source out the oddest materials. :P
And OMG. I hadn’t realized that was Batman on your dinosaur. That’s pretty freaking awesome.
My twin sis studied prosthetics, wigs & makeup. She works for the LA Opera and does freelance wigmaking for movies. I think behind the scenes people are awesome – and I can only IMAGINE the weird requests you have to fulfill for that show, omg. The bodies are amazing though – really impressive, and a big part of making the show work (I mean, if it’s a show about cannibalism, they kind of have to be!). I would not be able to keep those spoilers to myself, too hard! IDEK what they are yet! But hopefully I’ll be caught up on S2 by the time the finale hits.
That sounds really awesome! I couldn’t imagine the detail required for wigmaking! We end up ordering wigs for our bodies and then doing our best to match them to the actors. Everything is so rushed – 2 weeks for episode, so we have AT MOST two weeks to build whatever they need, and usually much less than that. I can’t believe how much detail they can do in that short a time.
And I just can’t wait until everyone is caught up to me so I can blab about the show. Hahaha. I’m so happy others are into it though – tumblr is a lot of fun. I really, REALLY hope NBC renews it for Season 3.
Well, shoot. I’ve had this a few times and found it to be ‘ok’, but I must have done something different as it’s quite nice today! YAY!
I hope I can replicate it. :P
I can taste rhubarb and vanilla and some kind of fizzy mouthfeel. I like it! :D
Thanks Sil! (197)
Mmmmm…. This is chocolate mint done right! Not sure what makes it better than others, but it’s really outstanding. Guess I won’t need an afternoon snack after all!
I don’t even want to drink this tea – I just want to smell it. It smells so deliciously fruity… OMG.
Ok, thankfully it tastes as good as it smells. Ripe strawberries, mashed raspberries, some other fruits… It’s sweet and delicious. I’m really happy Nina’s Paris threw this samples in with our last order, and that *Sil *let me have this one. DELICIOUS!
And.. that’s 199!
And.. that’s 199!ETA Many thanks to VariaTEA for pointing out that I’d posted this under the wrong note. Guys, it’s Monday. These things are forgiven. Much like the cleaning alcohol I spilled all over my hoody, and my accidentally breaking the voicemail service for our phones at work. It’s all forgiven… :P (I fixed the voicemail thingy though)
Preparation
Haha. I did the same thing initially and had to catch myself. It is easy enough to do because the Dammann one is the only one that comes up when you search the name.
This tea actually shows up twice in the database: once under “4 Fruits Rouges” and “Quatre Fruits Rouges” for Nina’s Paris. I emailed Jason once I noticed this last week, but don’t know if it’s been fixed yet.
BTW, I agree with you that this tea is scrumptious. To me, the strongest flavour was cherry.
Woo! This sipdown puts me at 200 teas. That’s about 52 sipdowns since the 19th. HOLY SMOKES.
It helps that they were pretty much all one-cup size, but still. #PatsSelfOnBackProfusely :D
Now to get down to 150 in the next month! It’ll be harder since a lot of my little samples are gone, but, it’s nice to have goals!
And this was a free sample from Yezi! I think it’s my least favourite of the three, but it still is a nice straight black. Smooth, a little malty, and a little sweet – quite enjoyable, but for some reason not quite worthy of poetic prose like the other two. Still, I recommend Yezi teas! You can tell they are high quality, and worthy of many steeps!
hmmm i’ve never tried this one. thought i’d gone through all of their blacks. damn now i need to drink those up too so i can place another order!
I’m drinking this cup as part of Operation:NoStaleTea since this tea is about 10-11 months old. It was the first Assam that I truly loved and it holds a place in my heart for that, but I don’t think it needs a place in my cupboard anymore. There’s something about it that I like less than, say, Tiger Assam. :D
I think it takes plain black teas a long time to go stale, like 5 years or more. I have noticed flavored black teas can lose their flavoring rather rapidly.
yes, whites, greens and green oolongs. I believe puerh is good forever because it supposedly improves with age…
aye what teabrat said. that’s why i usually have like one green in my cupboard… 2 whites and a very very small handful of oolongs. I don’t want to drink them as often so there’s no point to stocking up. and yeah…i tend to try and drink flavoured blacks sooner rather than later because you never know with flavourings..
Last sipdown for the day! (201)
I had other cups but couldn’t log them all because we were doing our roleplaying game and that kept me busy.
This is a pretty decent cup. I haven’t been craving rooibos as much lately so I dropped the rating down on this from 90 to account for that.
But I’m pretty happy for this sipdown. It’s one of my oldest teas so that’s two birds with one stone! :D
This tea sounds good…gore is always good too, heh. As an artist myself I have SO much respect for effects artists! Amazing work! And as a computer artist I’m totally jealous of your HTML skills :P
What program have you been using for your HTML? I’m still using dream weaver at work, and it’s a PITA. :)
Thanks Stephanie! I can’t believe what those guys can make – I love coming into work to see what everyone else worked on all night. :P
And OMG – I’ve just been using text documents for the html, and then copying php/javascript from other sites to do fancy stuff.
Dreamweaver might have been useful but I didn’t want to pay for it. I guess the boss could have; I should have thought of that.
Ahh. It’s a monthly subscription now for the adobe stuff. Really sucks.
Love it!
We still use adobe cs5 at my work :) none of that monthly fee BS yet!
