188 Tasting Notes
While waiting on my first ever order of loose teas, I have been enjoying the handful of trang varieties that I have in my drawer. This is a recent addition I chose to try based on some online reviews … I have to saw that the first cup wasn’t great. I’m not sure what I didn’t like about it, maybe the carob or the roasted chicory, I’m not sure. I added a bit of sugar and still wasn’t cray about it.
I have since tried it a few more times, including a cup currently, and I’m beginning to enjoy it more each time. I think maybe there is an unfamiliar flavor in the tea that took some time to acquire a taste for. I did add a bit of sugar and a little cream this morning… Foggy and wet outside makes me want the added comfort of milk and sugar (the only way mom made hot tea when I was growin up). Anyway, taste good thi morning. :)
Spicy teas are my thing right now and I don’t find it terribly so, just enough to make it enjoyable. I think I’ll keep it in my drawer for now until the loose teas win me over.. As I’m sure they will. Until then, it will be an extra for when I want somethig different than my “go-to” teas.
A friend of mine brought me a box of this last week and I had a cold when I tried it.
At the beginning of the steep, I thought it was going to be mild and a bit too orange-flavored for me. I let it steep awhile longer than I normally would other Celestial Seasoning teas and it took on a life of it’s own. Got a nice color similar to that of a sugar cookie and almost had some body to it. I added some sugar, and a bit too much, to bring it to the full “sugar cookie” flavor.
I enjoyed it despite my cold and lack of good taste buds… I will have to try it again when the last of my cold has past and see if my first impression was correct. If so, I will likely enjoy having this in the winter season most years as a sweet treat tea.
This is a childhood memory tea for me. Mom always had it in the cabinet when we were growing up and she would get it out once and awhile add a little sugar so my sister and I would drink it. I have come to enjoy the flavor more as an adult because it reminds me of home and warmth.
