Woo! Another sample sipdown!! :D :D
This one was definitely interesting. Not really something I would have gotten on my own, or even would have bought if it were still in stock at Butiki right now.
But it was interesting to try, and it made for a pleasant cuppa. (:

drank Orchid Oolong by Art of Tea
737 tasting notes

Now this is a sample I will be sad to sip down. D:
I love how floral-y it is. Just a beautiful tea.
If it didn’t have the tendency to get super buttery if you accidentally over-steep it I would probably pick up more. Oh well.
I will enjoy the few cups I probably have left of this one! ^^

Flavors: Butter, Floral, Smooth

drank Heaven's Trash by Butiki Teas
737 tasting notes

Got this tea in my last Butiki order. Hadn’t tried it till yesterday. On Steepster it says there are a LOT of flavors. Kinda diverse, and I wasn’t sure what to think. But then in tasting notes it acted like it’s a really chocolate-y, malty tea. Which made me decide to buy it in the first place. XD
So I wasn’t exactly sure what to think going into this one.
But I was actually pleasantly surprised.
It was rather fruity. I tasted raisins and plums. Pretty bready too.
Kinda malty, but not overly so. Maybe a bit chocolate-y, but nothing too noticeable.
Overall it was a delicious tea and I’m really glad I got to pick some up! (:
Another win from Butiki!

Flavors: Bread, Chocolate, Fruity, Malt, Plum, Raisins, Smooth, Sweet

oh crap…i think i forgot to pick this one up haha

I believe it’s on my list to sample to you, Sil.

Drank more of this yesterday afternoon, because I’m trying to sip down all my sample sizes still. This is one of them.
I think that the first time I steeped this I only put one tsp, but this time I put two which is what it says to do on the bag.
It was so much different than I remembered!
There was almost no peach at all (which is really sad for me) because the coconut really took over. And it was super creamy, which I actually kinda liked. It had some kind of faint fruity note in it, but it wasn’t peaches. D:
The creaminess would have been so perfect with peach flavors. And the white tea base would be the perfect base for that kind of tea too. Oh coconut, if only you didn’t take over. D:
Oh well, when I’m in the mood for a coconut tea, this one will be perfect. xD

drank Butterfly Jasmine by DAVIDsTEA

Someone on Instagram mentioned having jasmine tea yesterday morning…Can’t remember who it was exactly. But it inspired me to brew up some of this again. It was either this or the Verdant Silver Needle Jasmine, so I went with this because it would make me less awake than the other. xD
I haven’t had jasmine in a while.
But I’m glad I had some yesterday. Sometimes I think I forget how relaxing and refreshing it is. Absolutely love this tea! ^^

drank Oh, Canada by American Tea Room
737 tasting notes

So recently I found out that The American Tea Room has a shop in Beverly Hills, not far from UCLA. So since my week has been horrible and I had to go up to UCLA today for the second time this week, my mum said she would take me to there. I have only tried one of their teas, so I don’t really know what I was expecting. XD But the people were surprisingly nice and helpful. One lady that talked to us was very honest about the tea and I felt like she wasn’t just trying to make it sound amazing so I’d buy it. I didn’t buy that much, and plus a lot of their teas are pretty cheap, so that was also great! And they let me pick out a free sample, and it was a big sample too. xD
This was definitely the nicest tea store I have been to so far! But I don’t think I’d end up liking tons of their teas anyway. Mainly because I’m picky haha
But anyway. Picked up 2oz of this one because it smelled amazing.
I was not expecting it to be good at all. I was expecting it to be grassy since it was a green tea base. But it totally proved me wrong.
Brewed it up when I got home.
It’s so maple-y and sweet. There’s so much caramel and syrup flavor in it. It’s ridiculously good. I was not expecting that at all!
It tastes a lot like DavidsTea’s Movie Night, well when I first had tried it because it was so sweet and kinda tasted like caramel corn. But the last time I bought that tea it tasted weaker and more apple flavor…so I am thinking that they changed something in it, which has made me pretty sad because it was one of my favorites before.
But now I feel better because I have this one which is just as delicious and sweet, and it really wasn’t all that expensive-so this tea was definitely a win for me!!
Not sure how the other two teas I got will be, but this one was definitely worth checking out.
If i had to have a complaint it would be that in the second steep I could taste the green tea base more, it was a little grassy, but not too much. Movie Night barely has any green tea in it, even that’s like the base of it. Movie Night has decorations and stuff, but this one was mainly just green tea and some nuts. So I can’t expect it not to be a little grassy. xD Anyway, really fantastic tea! I would recommend if you ever try anything from there! :D

Flavors: Caramel, Grass, Maple, Maple Syrup, Nuts, Sweet

I have only ever tried their Brioche and I loved it! If you were a fan of Teavana’s long gone Almond Biscotti, it tastes just like that. I can’t wait to try more of their teas! When you were in the shop, was there a minimum amount you had to purchase? Could you buy sample sizes?

Oh, yeah that was the first tea I tried from them ever! :P Was decent. Well they said that the sample would be enough for a pot of tea…or a cup of tea…And then they were putting the tea into the pouch and it ended up being way more than that. xD Maybe like half an ounce? It was a pretty big sample haha! The samples are 4 dollars in store and online. (:

Awesome, thanks! I really want to place an order, but I really need to sip down a bit first as well. I hate self restraint.

Hope you end up having a good experience with them! (:

American Tea Room

Yup….a sample size is 1/2 oz – its good for a few cups or a big pot. Samples are $4 (some rarer teas are a bit more)

drank Not So Vanilla by Tippy's Tea
737 tasting notes

Got my Tippy’s Tea order today!
Of course the first tea I opened was this one. It smelled so chocolate-y, I got excited!
But while I was steeping it, I forgot about it for a couple minutes. So it ended up being really bitter. xD Could taste some chocolate and maybe malt flavors. But I can’t give it a fair rating till I actually steep it right! I’m still excited about this tea, just need to keep an eye on it better! XD

Oh no! You might be able to get another infusion. Unless you steeped it for 10 minutes or so. We’re happy that the order has arrived safe and sound. We hope you enjoy our teas.

Also that golden monkey base gets really malty if over-steeped.

Jealous! I’m still waiting for my order! It’s so hard! ;)

Haha yeah, I think I will end up really liking it when I steep it right. Going to try it again this weekend hopefully! (:

Bah! Just toss the cup and start over! No sense in giving yourself a bad impression or punishing yourself for over steeping with drinking down the less than optimal cup!

Sample Sipdown!
Had the last of this tea last night. Not bad-all three times I had it it made for enjoyable and relaxing cups. Always happened to be when I needed it the most! I don’t think I’d buy this tea in particular, but it was pretty nice. Thanks again for the generous samples, Rosehips!

Glad it was well timed tea, anyway!

So, for the last two days since having to do this horrible Ph Study thingy, I’ve been having to take pain killers 24/7 since I’m in so much pain. Which isn’t what I’m used to surprisingly. I’m using tremadol instead of vicodin today for a number of good reasons, but one of the bad things is that this pain killer is ultra sensitive to caffeine, and is easily counteracted. So I can’t drink anything with caffeine unless the pain killers don’t help anyway and it doesn’t really matter. xD
But today when I woke up I took it right away and for some reason half the time when I take it in the morning it doesn’t work. So it didn’t really work this morning and I ended up being able to drink two cups of this!
All that to say, I’m super duper happy I got to drink this finally! I have been wanting to drink this for like the past week but there hasn’t been a good moment to. But todayyy I finally could!! It was delicious as always. I can imagine this tea being a staple in my collection. Though kinda hard for it to be a staple when I’m sure the harvests change every time… Or at least have a good chance of changing. Like my “beloved” Golden Fleece from Verdant. D:
Sorry about the rant. xD When you’re feeling as horrible as I am every day you end up getting excited for all the little things, that probably just sound stupid to other people haha! :P Anyway, that just made me happy. And I wanted to write about it.
Guess having the pain killers not work in the morning wasn’t a total loss. :P

Flavors: Bread, Honey, Smooth, Sweet, Sweet Potatoes

this one is a good one!

It is indeed!

This is sold out in the US shop or I would have added it to my order yesterday. Limited myself to this shop because the shipping is so much less.

Wow, this sounds like a good tea! I’m looking for some good black teas to add to the collection. :) Hope you feel better!

I’m not too sharp with intros, but I figured it is about time to give it a go.
I started out drinking oolong and green tea that my dad brought home from his China business trips.
Then I discovered Teavana, and fell in love with some of their teas. Eventually I stumbled across Steepster, and a whole ‘nother world opened up.
Have discovered so many different kinds of teas, and have been loving this journey! The tea world is insanely big and amazing! And I’ve met some of the kindest people here who have broadened my horizons in more ways I could have imagined! Happy to be here, and to be drinking so many amazing teas! :D

My rating system:
1-59: Really really not a fan. An awful cup of tea for me…Totally undrinkable.

60-69: Not horrible, but not something I’d ever drink again willingly.

70-79: Pretty good. Wouldn’t mind drinking ever so often. But not a keeper.

80-100: FREAKIN’ AMAZING. Always keeping on stock in my home!!

I like pretty much any kind of tea except green tea. Unless it’s genmaicha or strongly flavored, I don’t like it usually.

My Tea Goals:
To find the Best Caramel Tea
To find the Best Vanilla Tea
To find the Best floral Oolong
To find the Best Malty Assam Tea
To find the Best Maple/Syrup Tea

Notes I like: Fruit(primarily peach, melon/honeydew, Banana, Kiwi, but I’m open to other kinds), Malt, Desserts (Toffee, Cake, Cookie, etc), Vanilla, Caramel, Floral, Sweet potato, Pastry/Bread,Jasmine, Honey, Cocoa, Chocolate, Maple, Nutty, Coconut, Almond.

Notes I’m Picky with: Lemon, Chai, Roasted, Blueberries, Hibiscus, Smoke, Earthiness, Puerhs, White Teas, and Cinnamon

Notes I hate: Citrus/Orange (Everything that I hate in this life that I have to take for my health is orange flavored, and it just makes me gag…so please…just no), Watermelon, Raspberry, Wood, Apple, Bacon, Lavender, Most mints, Pepper, Spicy, Tart/sour.

Yes, I am a picky tea drinker, but I’ll usually try any straight black or oolong tea that I receive. I like most oolongs, and I’m still discovering straight blacks. They always seem to surprise me no matter what!

And Swaps! I’m always down for swapping. Everything in my cupboard is swap-able. So just hit me up and send a message and we can totally do that!

On an unrelated to tea note, my other interests are limited due to health issues. But when I can, I enjoy reading and writing. Watching Netflix and YouTube have also been fantastic when I feel awful (which is most of the time).
I love Rifftrax, Rooster Teeth, Dexter, Hannibal, BBC’s Robin Hood, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Psych, and Parks and Rec.
Love watching all sorts of movies too, but that would be too much to list. :P
I’m definitely more of an internet person and love talking to people on every website I’m on. So if you ever wanna chat, shoot me a message! ^^
