2286 Tasting Notes

I wasn’t sure about the name, but uhh, my GOSH friends. SO BITTER.

So. Incredibly. Bitter. Different bitter from coffee. Makes my tongue feel weird.

I think I need to switch to a different tea IMMEDIATELY.

Thank you for the sample, Dexter! ;)

This… doesn’t sound appealing.

Ha! Definitely not to my taste.

I am still desperately trying to drink down my tea collection. I have maybe 2 servings left of this one.

I still adore it. These little balls of strong malty goodness. YUM. I’ll miss it when it’s done, but of course… I have other teas!

I think I’ve mostly narrowed down what I want to stock as far as black teas go.

- a good earl grey (still looking)
- masala chai (Chandernagor from MF, but $$$ so I might need to find a different one)
- orange pekoe/formosa black tea – from mom
- little balled up black tea – mom gives me one called Rungagora
- a lavender tea (Westholme, but the last batch is overwhelming so this might be swapped out)
- a russian caravan (Murchies is my fav still)

I feel like some of these ones are seasonal, and some will move in and out of favour. I haven’t narrowed down the non-caffeinated teas yet, or the puerh. :)

Hope everyone is doing well a year in! insert heart emoji here

My mom got me another bag of this, and idk if it’s just still too fresh, or they used too much lavender… but it’s a lot.

A. Lot.

And this is coming from someone who LIKES lavender in their tea.

Anyways. I had it with cream. It was nice. Just. A lot.

Yeah I still have some.

The vanilla needs a rinse these days but other than that it’s still tasty.

No regrets.

Yay! :)

I got a box of this a while back because I finished my vanilla Comoro and, uhh, with the borders closed I can’t exactly visit my friend in Chicago and restock my teas…

It’s ok. I feel bad saying that as I used to drink this tea all the time. It’s not a strong tea, and the bergamot is just there. Idk. Am I just having trouble with earl grey teas these days? I’ve been slowly looking for a new one but I haven’t settled on anything yet.

I am seriously thinking about buying more of this tea.

But first, I need fewer herbaly bits and bobs.

Lunchtime tea. I had 2 coffees already today, so it’s time to think about drinking things without caffeine. I haven’t had this one in ages, and it’s definitely past its prime, but it’s still delicious. I would consider reordering if I didn’t have so many other teas…

lol drink moar!

Sloshing is uncomfortable! Also, I have so much puerh and it so rarely agrees with my guts. :( I’m trying, but I have a lot and uhh, it’s gonna take a while to get through it all.

Just another herbal thing I’m trying to drink up. Even though turmeric tastes strongly of dirt to me, I do like this one with the vanilla and cinnamon.

I usually drink it as a latte with a touch of honey, and tonight is no exception. Just need to finish it before I ensconce myself in bed, because my duvet and sheets are all white… very aesthetic, but not very practical.

Is it weird that there is good dirt tea and bad dirt tea? I still remember all those black fancy teas with “chocolate” notes that tasted like bad dirt to me,

My other review of this is under one of the Yunnan sourcing entries.

It’s been a while since I had a tea quite like this. I’ve been drinking a lot of black teas and herbal teas, trying to get through my stash. But uhh, I have a LOT of puerh I need to drink.

This one, uhh, tastes wet. Yeah I know, tea is wet. But it gives the impression of leaf mulch. The damp understory of a forest. That kind of wet.

But it has body. A little tannin. Some sweetness.

Not what I’m used to drinking these days, but a nice change.

lol “wet”

yes. I will stand by the impression because the weather is decidedly POURING and so everything is wet.

Ahh yes. Thank goodness I had a previous note on this one. Something shared with Dexter. (I have SO MUCH puerh shared with Dexter, it’s almost frightening).

This is really nice. Smooth. Spicy. Easy to drink. Easy to steep. Honestly if this were looser it’d be a great one for my parents. They don’t really do cakes, tho.

I’m really glad I don’t get rid of more teaware. Will I continue to use it? Who knows. But I’m enjoying it all today.

I mostly drink black tea.

Also: A map of tea places in Vancouver. I’ve been to some of them, but not a lot. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
