1360 Tasting Notes
This one came in the Hapa-tite swap I signed up for via Nicole.
First off, look what a pretty colour it is! The camera didn’t quote do it justice.

This one smells just like Forever Nuts, Brioche Free, etc. I have a pretty good feeling it will taste similar. I do enjoy the taste of all these teas, but I can’t drink them all the time. This was nice surprise though, since I haven’t had Forever Nuts in ages.
Preparation
When I initially bought this one in my first Red Leaf order over a year ago, it was my least favourite. Little did I know, it would grow to become my favourite of the four I picked up.
I’ve been drinking so much matcha today and I’m having this one now, shaken with cold milk. I didn’t let it sit, but I’m sure it tastes the same as if I had. The French Butter Cookie is still sitting in the fridge for later.
Preparation
Nice to see that this one turned around for you. :) I’m going to order this next time. Seems popular enough that you really can’t go wrong.
Haha! My mood tonight decided on more Banana & Cream, Coconut, and French Butter Cookie, then also Strawberries & Cream, Caramel Popcorn, and Peanut Butter Pie. all at the next flavouring level.
These all sound like something I would drink…Maybe we should order together haha. Also, French Butter Cookie, Strawberries & Cream, and Caramel Popcorn are all good at delicate so I would be worried about having them distinctive. I haven’t tried the others though. I wish you could specify a flavor level for each tea in the buy 5+2.
I also wish that. Le sigh. I wanted to try French Butter Cookie up one level, just to see what it’s like. But not having tried Strawberries & Cream or Caramel Popcorn at all made me a bit wary of that. Caramel Popcorn makes me a bit wary as it is haha, but the reviews have just been so great. We can definitely order together.
I let this one chill with milk in the fridge all afternoon. This is the delicate flavouring. Even in a mason jar full of milk, the buttery flavour is prominent in the scent. The taste is vanilla-like and creamy. This one is quite tasty. I’m so happy I took a chance on this one. I might even go the next flavour up to see if it gets more delicious.
I think I will put together another batch right away, and let it sit in the fridge for later on tonight.
Thanks VariaTEA for the idea on this one!
Flavors: Butter, Vanilla
Preparation
When you mean you let it chill, did you leave the matcha in the milk just sitting there in your fridge? Or didd you prepare it and then leave it in your fridge? sorry, I’m a matcha idiot lol
Haha I scooped out the matcha and pour milk on top of it, then I shake it up and let it sit. Lazy matcha making at its best. I’m sure I could drink it right away and it would taste the same haha.
This is another tea from my swap with EvaGrimm.
For a bagged tea, this actually packs a lot of flavour. The spices are much more prominent than any actual pumpkin flavouring.
So many pumpkin teas taste exactly the same, and not at all like actual pumpkin, but like the spices that would go into a pumpkin pie. This one has all those spices, but they must be in varying amounts from other pumpkin teas, because it seems to be more to my liking.
Thanks EvaGrimm!
I’m trying this one hot today. I whisked 1 tsp. of matcha into the tiniest bit of cooled boiled water, then poured heated milk into my mug. It’s creamy, and the chocolate is more apparent. There is a slight, very subtle underlying chemical taste that was also there when I had this as a cold latte that I’m not a fan of. Perhaps I’ll try it next just in hot water.
Preparation
Too bad about the chemical taste. I think perhaps if I want chocolate and matcha together I’ll just whisk in a little cocoa powder!
Yeah, I like the idea of the cocoa. I was discussing that with my mom the other day, how there are just some flavours that can be done realistically. Like why does chocolate extract even exist? If you’re baking, just use real chocolate or cocoa!
I agree haha! If I can handle any more milk today I think I’ll mix up some Grand Cru with cocoa actually.
I’m having the last of the sample Sil sent my way this morning. I was hoarding it until my own matcha order came in. This one is so delicious. Banana matcha milk is my favourite.
I need to stay up until midnight tonight to register for spring and fall courses. Sometimes course registration is more stressful than exams.
Oh course registration. I would wake up an hour before it opened and had to press refresh over and over again until I got in. Then all the course codes wouldn’t be updated properly and I would end up registering for some advanced hockey course instead of the social problems class the code was meant to be for. Fun times :P
This is a great breakfast tea. It’s about time for supper, but breakfast teas are my favourite and I drink them at all hours. This one is a lovely mixture of black teas. It’s not anything overly special, but it’s got that comforting black tea thing going on, and I would happily pick up some more.
Thanks EvaGrimm!
It looks grey outside, like it might rain. I love the rain and find it so calming.
Preparation
What an interesting flavour. The scent and flavour profile is simultaneously intriguing me and making me feel ill. I have a weird relationship with berries. I love them individually, but any sort of berry mixture in tea never goes over well. The cinnamon here seems to create the pie effect, at least in my cold shaken milk, and I think that’s what is allowing this flavour to work for me. Perhaps a warm latte would work better?
Blueberry cinnamon pie would be amazing right about now. :) Honestly, I think flavours and spices depend on the taste of the person making it. Like, we never put cinnamon in our strawberry or rhubarb pies, but according to the internet, that’s a thing.
I know what you mean. I could do any berry with cinnamon I think. But more than one berry and I just can’t. It makes my stomach turn. But gah, blueberry cinnamon pie sounds amazing. I’ve also only had strawberry rhubarb together in a pie, never separate haha!
Red Leaf arrived! I’m so happy these teas have resealable bags.
I haven’t had super fresh matcha in a long time, and the green colour was so vibrant. This one has the scent of chocolate that I know from somewhere, but I can’t pinpoint it. It’s pretty tasty in cold shaken milk, but it may be better hot.
Yes! I was thrilled. My last order was the same as the Peanut Butter you sent me. But now they are pretty and white and resealable.
Hahaha. Those are pretty nice. I far prefer the bags that are totally light tight versus the ones that have a window.
You did delicate flavor level right? How is the chocolatey level of this one then? Just curious. Congrats on your kickass pile o’ matcha :D
Yep, delicate. The chocolate scent is stronger than the taste. I want to try it hot before fully deciding though.
Congrats on 500!
Woot! Congrats!
Woohoo 500! I think I might have to try this matcha, sounds great!
Delicious note! and woohoo on registration and 500!
Yay! This note makes me happy on so many accounts. For one, I am so happy my excitement over this matcha didn’t lead you to buying it and then hating it. Also, it is so rare for people to get into all the courses they need without a bit of a headache (at least that’s how it has been at McGill) so yay for that. And finally, 500 tasting notes is awesome so congrats!!
Yay 500! :) That’s pretty awesome you got into all your courses. And also weird to me that you register for more than one semester at a time! :)
Happy 500!
