14 Tasting Notes
I can’t remember the last time I had oolong… I remember this one being green and honey-like, but it appears to be a shui xian instead of qi lan now. It has a nice soft toasty roasted aroma that melds with the ripe fruit flavors of shui xian. I’m not sure if I’d say it’s all that complex for a Wuyi oolong, but it’s quite enjoyable.
Preparation
Rosamonte has been a staple “tea” of mine for a number of years. Even after trying many other brands, I always return to Rosamonte. It’s strong but not overwhelming. It’s smoky, but I consider it fragrant smoke rather than ashtray smoke. The character of this mate really shines when prepared in a gourd, which brings a resinous quality out of this yerba.
Preparation
This is a very strong mate that might come off as too strong to someone not used to mate. Getting past the bitterness, this mate actually has a decent depth of flavor. On the surface it’s woody, earthy and slightly smoky. Once it has left it’s imprint on the palate, it reveals sort of a smooth milk chocolate flavor.
