1 Tasting Note

95

I’m drinking this oolong out of a 22 oz cast iron tea pot. I steeped this first infusion for 30 seconds, as recommended by the Silver Needle Tea Co. They also provided further instructions for multiple infusions. I plan to steep the leaves to their full capacity of 5 infusions.
1st infusion: 30 sec
2nd infusion: 50 sec
3rd infusion: 1 min
4th infusion: 1 min
5th infusion: 1 min

I’m really enjoying this tea. I feel like the most prominent notes are caramel, followed by a light honeysuckle finish. I mostly taste the hay and wood notes when the tea has cooled down.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I taste a ‘mineral’ flavor? Is that just my imagination? Anyone out here have experience with a Da Hong Pao? Have you tasted this as well? I am thinking it’s the yan yun rock taste?
I highly recommend. Soft, light silky sweetness.

Currently enrolled online with the World Tea Academy. I also work in a tea shop, but that is less important.
I would like to meet some like minded people who love tea as much as I do! And learn from them as well. I’m just starting out with my studies and I feel like I have much to learn.
