I decided to get this tea recently when I ordered some stuff from amazon.com. They ended up shipping it in a box all by itself – I can’t believe that makes sense but maybe it comes from a different warehouse than the rest of my order.

Anyway, I tend to like apple flavored teas and I thought this might make a good dessert tea. It’s a mix of assam, rooibos and spices. I’m really glad this blend doesn’t have stevia in it. It reminds me a bit of an apple pie which is nice and the ingredients are all natural which is good. This is an easy one to sip on plain as well. I get a lot of cinnamon apple flavor. It’s pretty tasty considering the price I paid for it which wasn’t much.

Random Teabag Sipdown!

I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this since most apple teas don’t appeal to me. I find that they taste like the caramel sour apple suckers I loved when I was a kid.

I definitely was able to taste all of the flavors in the name. The caramel was slightly sweet and appealed to my sweet tooth. The apple was slightly tart and a little artificial tasting, but certainly not the worst apple flavoring I’ve tried. The balance of spices was perfect to offset the sweet and tart flavors of the caramel and apple. I was really glad they didn’t overpower the tea, they were merely present and very enjoyable.

This is one of those teas that I would definitely drink again if it were offered to me, but it isn’t something I would pick up on my own.

I don’t know what “Organic Caramel Flavor” is and that makes me a bit leery of this tea but just drinking it blind, on flavor characteristics alone, I’ve gotta say this is very enjoyable. Caramel apple but not that sweet. There’s a nice, fresh fruity-apple taste. It has ginger, clove and cardomom among the ingredients but they are played down entirely – this is not at all a spicy brew, but soft and fruity… those ingredients are likely what prevents the overall flavor from being too sweet. It’s a savory sweetness. Did I say yum? Smooth. This would also be excellent iced, no need for adding sugar.

It’s got a slight artificial taste, but it’s still pretty good. Not sure why it’s energizing- it only has about a 1/4th of the caffeine of a normal cup of coffee. It does satisfy cravings in the afternoon, which is nice. Just a touch of sugar, and some milk and it hit the spot for me.

Compared to past experiences with Yogi, I was actually quite unimpressed with this one. I tried to cold brew it in a pitcher for about 10-12 hours. Normally when I brew tea this way even the most pungent and bitter leaves have a somewhat smooth flavor. This one for some reason had a distasteful after taste of licorice and way more spice than necessary. I didn’t even taste the apple. It was just spicy licorice. Definitely won’t be buying this tea again, though I might try and re-brew this as a hot tea later on and see if the flavor profile changes. As for now, not a fan.

The rooibos here is not so great. It’s a bit stronger and more smokey than I prefer. The apple flavor is light and sweet. It would probably be more authentic with a bit of tartness, but it’s a pleasant sweet apple candy sort of flavor and not too strong.

I really want to like this tea, because it smells wonderful, but I just can’t bring myself to enjoy it, no matter how I prepare it. Whether served plain or with milk and sugar, the flavors seem somewhat bland and boring to me. There is nothing that special about this tea, but there really isn’t anything too horrible about it either. This is one of those teas that you just have to try for yourself.
