From Wissotzky Tea

This blend of green tea leaves has a special and surprising aroma. It contains lemon verbena which has a slightly sour taste and ginger root which spices the blend with a pleasant spiciness with sweet specks. Ginger root which comes from tropical Asia is known to relieve general tiredness and for treating biliousness and for invigorating and increasing the bodily energy.

I had what I believe to be a sipdown of this tea earlier today. I see from my previous tasting note that I enjoyed the ginger flavor. Unfortunately, I could barely taste the ginger today. It just seemed very weak all around – maybe the water wasn’t hot enough? I did let it steep for a good long while…

Oh well. I have better ginger teas and better Wissotzky teas, so it’s no big loss to be done with this one.

A one off sample from a friend that I have had for far too long. As far as I can remember I haven’t tried Wissotzky before so this shall be completely new.

Bag: Looked somewhat powdery and smelled strongly of ginger.
Steep: The colour is very yellow with a smell of subtle and fresh lemongrass.

Well while this tastes like lemongrass with a slight spicy ginger kick and that sounds nice I find that this is lacking something. It’s light and slightly spicy but with nothing to ground it…I can’t taste the green tea at all. It tastes like a Chinese remedy instant drink mixture that dissolves in water instead of a tea.

Pop a small sachet of chopped lemongrass and a pinch of ginger root and pour warm water over it and you will basically have this tea. Not very impressed at all and I am certainly not sad I only have one bag. Just not for me.

I always carry hot water in my tea thermos and my pandora’s tea bag pouch when I am on the go…unfortunately for me, I left my tea bags at home today :(

In tea desperation, I picked this one up at a discount store and I must agree, Its pretty good for what its worth. Of course, you have to be prepared that you are not going to get the best green tea but the ginger flavor comes out clean.

Its refreshing :)

It’s funny, I can only find this tea at discount stores, and pay next to nothing for it, but I really enjoy it. I find it quite clean and refreshing.
