From white2tea

Our Dahongpao is a blend of oolong tea from the Fujian province of China.

Originally used to describe the tea from a small group of bushes in Fujian, the name Dahongpao in a modern context is more commonly used to describe blends of yancha [rock oolong] instead of denoting a varietal or processing distinction. Our Dahongpao is a blend that relies heavily on the Meizhan varietal with traditional style processing that incorporates the roast, mineral nature and fragrances of typical yancha in a balanced way. Excellent as an introduction to quality yancha.

Each purchase is for 25 grams of tea.

Grandpa Style!

I wouldn’t normally make Dahongpao grandpa style, but this past weekend I brought some of this to a friend in the city and I wanted to steep some outside in the park before meeting up. Grandpa Style was honestly just the most convenient way to do that…

It worked really well though because this was like drinking warm and toasty cinnamon pastry! I got those mineral/rocky notes and grilled nut elements but they just paled in comparison to the surprising taste of baked goods, cinnamon, and a hint of raisin. It just melted my heart.
