This cake is made from the Menghai factory recipe 7582, composed of many larger leaves. This production was made on private order at a smaller factory between 1995-1999, we decided to take the median of the age and list it as 1997, though we can not pinpoint an exact year. The tea is already smooth and easy to drink. There is some humidity that still shows up in early steeps.
So sorry for my absence, this semester has taken a lot of work and I barely have time to do anything but study. So, that being said, I haven’t drank much tea at all recently, but I’m starting to drink tea once more.
This tea has a smokey like bitterness at first, but a very nice aftertaste of blackberries. It’s smooth, yet light enough that it won’t be too much and very flavorful.
Really really enjoyable tea.

This tea is rank, and dank, and gnarly. I understand what a previous review meant with his shou comparison – this is a tea for a cold, dark day, not when it’s still summer (in the Gregorian sense). I will endeavour to revisit this in the early part of the new year, and I’ll be letting it breathe until then.
Lest you misconstrue, however, I believe there’s a very fine tea hiding under here, or I wouldn’t bother.
Bonus note – I cold brewed the mostly spent leaves for over 10 hours today, and it tasted like liquid leather. Quite nice, actually!

This is the first White Two Tea offering that I’ve tried. I found it to be quite nice. The earthiness of it was rather subtle, which I appreciated.
Earliest infusions were sweet and mellow. The earthiness of this pu-erh is perhaps the most pleasant earthy taste that I’ve yet to experience in a pu-erh. This has a flavor of a mushroom. It’s not briny or fishy. It’s smooth, not bitter, and not astringent.
Later infusions became deeper in flavor but still pleasantly sweet, mellow and smooth. The sweetness develops into a caramel-y like flavor that I loved, and then with later infusions, it became more like molasses (loved that too!)
In later infusions, I also picked up on some raw cacao notes and hints of mineral. There was also a slight citrus-y tangy note.

The aroma is a earthy, but the tea doesn’t taste earthy to me. It just tastes amazing.
I wish I had better words to say because this is not doing this tea justice.
I don’t know whether this is a shu or a sheng. Is this what sheng becomes after 17 years of aging? It’s not as potent and fishy as most of the shu I drink. It seems slightly smokey, but not nearly as smokey as the young sheng I’ve had.
The flavor is subtle and a little grassy, but I enjoy it.
