From Verdant Tea (Special)

Tea Blend Subscription Club – April 2015

Our Yunnan White Jasmine is a classic example of the way jasmine scenting can meld seamlessly with its base tea. But though white and green tea are common bases for jasmine teas around the world, black jasmine teas are much more uncommon. Yunnan Black Jasmine takes on the challenge of blending crisp Jasmine florals with rich and savory Yunnan black by using organic vanilla, saffron and blue lotus to fill in and round out the center of the brew with rich, creamy textures and flavor. The resulting blend brings balance to a tea that is at once warm & cozy and – at the same time – uplifting, sweet and bright.

INGREDIENTS: Yunnan Dian Hong, Intelligent Nutrients organic Jasmine Pure Essential Oil, organic vanilla, organic saffron, organic blue lotus

Looking back at my notes, I marked this tea as fruity, so I’m having it today as one of my fruity July teas. This one seems to be more flavorful with a shorter steep at a higher temperature, so I went back to my original steeping parameters. I was interested to see in the description that this tea also has other ingredients aside from the jasmine and black tea – vanilla, saffron, and blue lotus. What does blue lotus taste like? Or even saffron? I can’t say I’ve ever had either, or at least not the real thing (saffron).
