From Utopian Tea

Straight from the Fujian province in China, this premium 1st grade Ti Kuan Yin is a true prize to be shared as the best of our collection here at Utopian Tea. This lightly oxidized oolong is one of the most popular, and we were very lucky to get this special high grade selection of this variety directly from the tea plantation.

Savoring it’s bold floral and honeysuckle-esque flavor over several infusions is the best way to go, as the strength of this tea lasts for what seems like an eternity. You’ll quickly realize that the taste perfectly reflects the lingering smell as if it were planned by a higher power. This is truly the essence of Earth.

I LOVE the name of this tea company! :)

This smells like a gentle perfume dry – liquid smells a little bit like flowers from a distance.

This is very light in color.

I can taste the honey-suckle likeness and the more I drink it the better I like it. It’s very clean and crisp and thirst-quenching. YUM!

Cofftea

“Crisp and thirst quenching”- exactly! I think it would make a wonderful iced tea, I just don’t have a large enough amount to do it since I’m the Sample Queen.

TeaEqualsBliss

As it cools at room temp for a few minutes the flavor really start coming out more! :)

Stephen Wise

I love oversteeping this tea on the 2nd infusion, and drinking it when the water cools to room temp by itself – Give that a try and let me know what you think

TeaEqualsBliss

Cool…
How long do you suggest for the OVERsteep on the 2nd infusion!?

TeaEqualsBliss

I will also be reviewing this one very soon over at SororiTEA Sisters in greater length.
http://sororitea.wordpress.com/

I’m sending small samples to a few friends on here to help spread the word as well and half of my bag is being shipping to Anne for review as well! :)
Thanks so much, Stephen!!!

Stephen Wise

Thank YOU, Jennifer! Thanks for sharing our tea with more people – it means a lot!

Stephen Wise

oh yeah – About the steeping.. Try letting it steep as the water goes from hot to room temp – 15 min or so, and you’ve got yourself a refreshing beyond perfect cup of Iron Goddess of Mercy

TeaEqualsBliss

15 mins for the 2nd…cool…gotchya! Thanks!

katers

Have you tried multiple infusions for this one? I’m looking for a good oolong that will stand up to several infusions without becoming watery.

Cofftea

katers, I have (well Adagio’s version). But then again I’ve had good resteeping success w/ almost all oolongs I’ve tried it with.

Stephen Wise

Katers, I’ve infused this over 5 times nearly every other day – This oolong is one that truly lasts

The moment the swimming gossamer surface of this heavenly tea did touch my heathen parchèd lips, I felt an instant sense of airy jubilation accompanied by the distinctive tang which is solely felt through sampling that which is of the Gods, with a touch of Goodwill towards All Mankind mixed in for good measure. I was immediately transported back to my childhood days of simple joy and naïveté in the lush primeval paradise that is the Garden of England, or for the ignorant among us here, Kent.

Such a sensorial pleasure is this tea that I dare not drink it in public for fear of losing what dignity that has been afforded to me by Providence.

You’ve only written three ratings, and by God, they are the best ratings I have ever read! I can’t stop laughing…

Jason

That’s why I had to feature this post on the homepage!

Stephen Wise

WOW – I am speechless – Thanks for sharing your passionate insights and experiences of our Iron Goddess of Mercy – It’s truly an honor!

I’ve been spending way too much $ on tea lately! This is a pretty non standard Oolong. I like it. It’s a little milder than what I would usually call a good Oolong, but it has nice flavors.

Stephanie

Yep, spending mucho $$$ on tea is practically a given when you’re on Steepster! :)

UpInTheAir

True! It’s a guilty pleasure.

Stephen Wise

Thanks for trying our Iron Goddess – Glad you enjoyed it!

I’ve had at least 2 cups of this every day for the past 2 weeks, since I got it in. Wakes me up in the morning, not just the caffeine, but it’s smell is so alluring, so floral, and strong. It revitalizes all senses, just in time to start any day. Ti kuan yin is my favorite, and I choose to go with this selection from Utopian Tea, because it is grade 1 quality, which I respect.

rating a tea from your own company…

Stephen Wise

This is my favorite tea – everyone knows I own it already – I shared my reason for choosing this for Utopian Tea, and 5 months ago was the first month I got several kilograms of this to provide. I rated this tea, in the same way presidents vote for themselves.

Henry David Thoreau would be proud. Utopian Tea’s Iron Goddess of Mercy is a true testament to the core values that inspired Thoreau’s “Walden” and the utopian society it chronicles. My initial reaction upon trying the herbal drink was that of transcendental bliss.

Stephen Wise

WOW – Thanks for this bit mentioning Henry David Thoreau! I’m a fan – Glad to see your inspirational words on our Iron Goddess

Not really impressed. The leaves looked terrible, and the flavour put off was not really that great.

Drinking this to keep me warm as I stay up late working on homework. I like this tea very much, I’ve had it a few times, and I’m pleased with how long the leaves last.
