Two or three (jeepers, time flies!) Christmases ago, my husband got me a bagged assortment of Turyaga teas—more for the pretty chest than its contents. Nothing very impressive in the sample; just fair to middlin’ gift-grade stuff, evidenced by the fact that I still have some.

However, it’s hot and like you, I’m trying to work my way through the backlog in time for sweater season. So I popped three bags of this ginger peach blend in a mason jar overnight, and whaddya know? We’ve got a pretty nice summer season cooler here. Ginger first—lots of it—followed by a pleasant, crusty peach pie vibe. The black tea, whatever it is, is just a carrier. But together, it works.

Side note (you know I can’t review a tea without a story)…today was Goodbye Day for my outgoing sixth grade Sunday kids. Two of them said, “I’m going to miss your tea days;” one of them added, “especially the one that tastes like bacon.” I assured them I’d let them know when the next one is so that they can crash the party and I can get some kid hugs. I’m not above bribery.

Bacon Tea kid, I remember him(?)!

Unless there’s a Bacon Tea kid every year.

This year’s model was more of a fan than most; I actually bought him his own stash of lapsang. We were stuffing Operation Christmas Child boxes last November—his role was to take the finished boxes and stack them in a huge pyramid at the end of the assembly line. He loved it and told us, “I know where I want to work when I grow up—Amazon Prime!”
