I’m not a huge fan of Oolongs; I find them too finicky for my tastes. However, when I went to the local coffee shop for some tea, I wanted something that had less of a punch than black tea. So, oolong it was.
This is fantastic. It has a heavy, earthy body, but it’s still distinctly an Oolong in taste. I enjoyed the cherry and floral notes in the tea, which really comes out when the tea has dropped in temperature a bit. It can also take some abuse; he barista served it to me boiling hot. Which is good; I’m not the best at timing teas. I only got one steeping in, but I took the leaves home for future steepings.
On days when I want to hang in a coffee shop, but don’t want coffee? This’ll be a good alternative to black tea. Definitely having it again!
Flavors: Cherry, Floral, Orchid
OK – I’ve been so used to Blacks that I forgot how multiple steepings can bring out the different qualities. Second steeping is lighter, and I steeped it for 3 minutes. May be a bit too much, but the tea seems to put up with my abuse well. This is not a ‘delicate’ oolong.
