From THE O DOR

‘Phœnix’, this flavored blend of black teas and green mate with notes of chocolate and chili constitutes in part the special edition ‘SOME AMONG US ARE CONTEMPLATING THE STARS’ (‘Certains parmi nous sont en train de contempler les étoiles’) allowing us to discover the story of 3 constellations, 3 moments of escape, 3 invitations to sublime the imagination.

Turn your gaze towards the South, the sky is inviting us to an encounter with ‘Phœnix’. Named after this legendary bird native from Africa, gifted with longevity and the power to rise again from its own ashes, this constellation is here translated with impudence into an adventurous flavored blend of black tea and green mate, that will certainly surprise your taste buds with exoticism and pleasure thanks to the harmonious balance of chocolate spiced up with chili.

This was a sample I was given with my purchase. I really liked it the first time I had it, but didn’t make any notes. It is a really interesting blend. I can taste the mate, which adds a bit of an ashy taste, which blends well with the chocolate, which blends well with the light chili kick. The flavors merge together well! The licorice is very subtle adding a touch of sweetness, lingering a little in the finish. It’s hearty, yet light and slightly spicy. I’m not usually into mates, but I’d think about ordering some of this!

This was one of the many samples that were included with my birthday order. The samples are mostly “Mystery Sachets”. You don’t know what they are until you open the pouch. I saw mostly green in the sachet and thought it was green tea so I was pretty surprised to look it up and see that it is black tea and mate. The aroma was powerful and daughter and I were debating whether it was almond or amaretto. Surprise! Neither!

It says it is chocolate and chili. I have never been a big fan of spicy things so I was a little frustrated to see chili as an ingredient. WHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYY? But I try to keep an open mind and it smelled so good, so I went for it.

And…it is really tasty. The chili was almost undetectable at first. (Since there was only one sachet we resteeped and combined so we could each have a full teacup.) It was sweet and chocolate-y. As it cooled, I picked up the barest kick of heat, but nothing even close to frightening this wimp off. Youngest said she didn’t taste chili either until it had started to cool and she noticed at the back of the sip.

So far I am really liking this company. We may have to place another order.

Sil

the o dor has some fantastic teas!

Atacdad

yeah, but I just have to pause at the company name. So many ways to take that, one of which isn’t too encouraging!

This was another suprise for me… like really. I got it as a sample and read the ingredient list and I was sure I wouldn’t like it too much. Leaves smelled of chocolate but had an odd thing..perhaps the chili. Dunno.
Steeped it up…..wow. I really havent found too many chocolate teas that I enjoy. They’re usually trying too hard or have a saccharine like quality to them.. like they’re trying to make milk chocolate tea and it’s always meh. This is like the unsweetened dark chocolate. It’s very very good. I don’t get a lot of chili in the fore front. I do get a bit of it in the finish. Just right there in the back. If you’re looking for a chocolate tea with more kick you wont be enamored here but if you’re looking for a good chocolate tea without the usual artificial thing…this is a good one. I will be buying more of this. the black base is so well balanced with this. You get all the flavors of a good chinese black with notes of chocolate and a hint of spice. Sipdown. I love it.
