This puerh tea comes from the protected state forest in Gedeng and is from tall thin trees which shoot up to reach the light in the forest. The first couple of infusions seem light, but quickly there is a strength and richness that emerges in the tea. This is a powerful tea that displays all the characters of a perfect, biodiverse environment and healthy strong trees.
To criticise this tea – it does develop some astringency in later steeps, which seems to be a characteristic of a lot of forest tea this Spring. This should change as the tea begins to age and it is a very enjoyable tea nonetheless.
