From Teavivre

Origin: Fuding City, Fujian Province, China

Ingredients: Evenly and tightly rolled tea leaves

Taste: sweet-sour strawberry fragrance, with Oolong tea’s mellow flavor

Talking about the making of this Strawberry Oolong Tea, the natural extractives from strawberry are added after the Oolong tea is made, in order to keep the original flavor of Oolong tea, and ensure that both the strawberry fragrance and Oolong tea’s unique flavor can be tasted. The Oolong tea leaves of this tea is picked and produced in traditional methods. After the Oolong tea leaves are shaped, the strawberry extractives are then added.

The Aroma of this Tea is Outstanding! Very good I enjoyed it. It really smells like yummy strawberries, filling the entire room with fragrance.

The flavor let me down just little bit only because I was expecting a really strong strawberry flavor to match the intense aroma. The tatse of the Tea itself is nice slightly sweet and vegetal with a creamy smooth buttery mouthfeel, very nice.
The strawberry taste in the tea fell a bit short to me not because it wasnt tasty but because it was just so subtle, don’t get me wrong it was quite good but the aroma was just a bit misleading because thats where all the strawberry really was.
With the buttery smooth creamy mouthfeel of the Tea itself and the real strawberry notes it is more like a “Strawberry and Cream” tasting tea.
The subtle faint strawberry tatse in this tea is actually good for this one because it don’t mask the taste of the tea itself, it just add a hint of taste to it without making it taste fake or just too much, it is surely a step above other fruit flavored teas that I have tried.

I commented earlier in a Tea group when someone asked the question “Sweetener or No Sweetener?” and This one was one of those Teas that I couldn’t help but wonder if I should add a sweetener too or not.
My answer on the comment was No Sweetener in straight/plain teas BUT that some flavored teas can actually benefit from a little sweetener added. Some Flavored Teas DO NOT taste like the fruity flavors they are suppose to have untill you have added something in them to sweeten them up and make them taste right, thats just how it is.
ANYWAYS, I figured that perhaps this one would be one of those teas so i decided to add a little sweetener to see if that would boost the Strawberry a little bit.

Not Good, this one is NOT one of those flavored Teas that could use a little sweetener, In fact adding sweetener to this one totally ruined it for me, Granted the Sweetener DID increase the sweetness of the strawberry taste and made it a litle more intense it also ruined it by making it taste very ODD, it almost had a medicinal cough syrup kinda taste when the sweetener was added, BAD IDEA!!

Overall,
I liked this one pretty good, it was missing something for me just not sure what, The Tea itself is very good and the strawberry taste is REAL but subtle and the Aroma is Top Notch!
Considering that this one was good on its own even tho subtle in strawberry And the sweetener totally ruined it, I think this tea actually a perfect flavored tea, nothing can improve on this one if it were anything more it would be like all the other run of the mill super sweet fruity teas.
Most likely not a Tea that I would buy and have on hand but surely one I can enjoy, I could actually enjoy just steeping this up and smelling it instead of drinking it I think, lol :)

DAMN!!! I Really Really Really want a big ass bowl Strawberry Shortcake Dessert right now.

Flavors: Butter, Smooth, Strawberry, Sweet, Vegetal

Tommy Toadman

Oh, Yeah
After I ruined this one with sweetener I didn’t drink much out of that cup just enough to write my review, I was done with that cup so i walked away from it and went outside for a bit When I come back inside that cup had completely cooled and I tasted it and it was actually pretty good, it was like buttered toast with strawberry jam, very interesting. Maybe I should try it as an iced tea :)

KittyLovesTea

It’s beautiful as an iced tea, less sweet but fresher :)

K S

My reaction to this one was pretty much the same as yours – including adding sweetener, and the room temp flavor. I think the problem for us both was expectation, especially with that awesome leaf aroma. Once I accepted this was a grown up sip, I realized how good it actually tastes. And yeah, strawberry shortcake does sound good right now.

Thank you Angel at Teavivre for this sample. This tea was good, I really enjoyed it. It had an incredible strawberry flavor but you knew you were drinking an oolong. The second flavor was that characteristic oolong flavor but it was mild, a barely perceptible roasted barley flavor. They go very well together. There was virtually no bitterness to this tea and no astringency or sour flavor. This was good tea. I will have to buy it the next time I place an order at Teavivre.

While I add sugar to most tea, I made a point of tasting this without sugar. It was very sweet on its own, almost but not quite like it was made with sweetener in the tea. It was that sweet.

I steeped this five times in a 220ml gaiwan with 6.9g tea leaf and 190 degree water. I steeped it for 15 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 30 sec, and 1 min. The tea did not appreciably weaken by the fifth steeping but I have had enough tea despite how good it is.

Why didn’t I drink this when it was hot outside? The colder this gets the more intense the strawberry becomes. It is not a candy fake flavor but not actually as tart as biting into the real thing. Of course I am not sure I would really want it that tart.

It is, much lighter than I expected based on the bag scent. Once I realized it was intentional I was more than fine with it. Teavivre explains it is to “ensure that both the strawberry fragrance and Oolong tea’s unique flavor can be tasted”. My opinion is how rare is it that you are supposed to taste the flavor AND the tea. Brilliant! That has been a pet peeve of mine for a while. When I want to drink Kool-Aid, I drink Kool-Aid. When I drink tea, I want to taste tea.

Speaking of which, the oolong here is a green oolong but not one of those highly floral or latex aftertaste ones. This is green, light, and fresh. Seems perfectly matched to the flavoring to me. The leaves are kind of huge in my press.

Latex…I wonder if that’s why so many oolongs remind me of Juicy Fruit Gum.

K S

I normally call that taste geranium. Never really made the Juicy Fruit connection.

Shared a pot of this with girlie – so very yummy. This is such a creamy buttery oolong with just the right note of strawberry. Not too much that it turns into perfume, not too little that you can’t taste it. Om nom nom.

I love strawberries and oolong so this just seemed like a perfect fit. However, I’m not sure how i feel about this one. When first steeped it has an amazing fruity smell that jumps right out of the cup into your nostrils. But I feel that the oolong has a bit of a bitterness to it that kicks in to the aftertaste that I’m just not liking too much.

With a touch of honey i like it much more.

I couldn’t decide which oolong I was craving but when I saw this one, the decision was made for me. Need another beloved tea to calm me down after another breakdown that made no sense. Breaking down into tears over not having any soy meat in the freezer? Yep, I’m not ready to rejoin the world just yet. But hopefully this fruity, oolong-y cup of perfection will help. I genuinely love this tea and recommend it to everyone.

Be kind to yourself. Maybe an epsom salt bath? A massage? A good long meditation to check in with yourself and see what’s up? And tea that you love, of course.

Daddyselephant

All of these suggestions are A+ ideas I plan to try :) Thank you for your kindness, hopefully I’ll shake out of this soon.

Thanks again to Angel at Teavivre for the sample! I finished this one off as a tea soda – hot steeped the whole sample pack in a gaiwan, poured it into a glass, and topped it with seltzer. It came out simultaneously light and flavorful, which is just what I needed on a hot day. The leaf holds up well to a resteep too. I ended up getting four refreshing glasses out of it. Sipdown!

I chose to try this tea purely on the fact that it was a flavored oolong, and a flavor that I have not yet seen for an oolong. The aroma that comes from the bag is a very pronounced sweet strawberry smell that is quite enticing to the senses. The tea itself is a tightly rolled light oolong tea, that to be honest, I wasn’t the biggest fan of. I decided to go the “western” route on brewing for this tea, and didn’t rinse this tea very much at all, just a quick touch in the water; I didn’t want to wash away any of the flavoring. Since this tea was so tightly rolled, I steeped it in water for a bit longer than I would normally for an oolong, and the resulting liqueur was on the darker side of a light oolong, with a very prominent strawberry smell, but was lacking a lot in body, and was quite empty in flavor. The tea soup itself was very clear, with almost no sediment at the bottom of my cup. Overall, this tea was okay, the aroma was 100/100, visually 100/100, and taste was 35/100. Visually this tea was beautiful, and the aroma was great, but there was really not much for the taste, the 1st brew was astringent and vegetal, and the 2nd and 3rd brew were sweeter and more floral, but it was lacking much, and was definitely not my favorite from Teavivre, but I wouldn’t couunt this tea out yet, perhaps it was just my batch; I will update later if it improves.

This was one of the samples I ordered from TeaVivre. I’m not really into green oolongs, but I do love strawberry so I figured it was worth a try! The leaves are fairly tightly rolled and various shades of green. Dry scent is sweet and tart strawberry candy, and something about it kind of reminds me of pineapple too. I brewed for 3 minutes at 190 degrees.

The brewed aroma is also strawberry candy, but I can smell the fruity green oolong in the background too. I actually like this quite a bit, considering it’s a green oolong. There are fairly strong peach notes that meld really well with the strawberry flavoring, and I don’t really get much floral, which is very nice. The strawberry itself is definitely more of an artificial strawberry flavor, but I find that it works quite well in this tea. There’s a also a lovely creamy texture here, and the tiniest bit of vegetal green taste at the end of the sip. Really, quite nice, especially considering I don’t like green oolong much. :)

It’s good with the milk oolong.

Plunkybug

It’s a very mild strawberry, but at the same time, not cloyingly artificial either, so I really like this one.

From the Round 3 Here’s Hoping TTB

Teavivre has some wonderful teas, and this one is no exception. The strawberry flavor is light but consistent. The oolong is buttery with a light vegetal flavor, and it pairs with the strawberry flavor in a nice way. I can see myself reaching for this when I’m in an oolong mood. Something tells me my daughter will like this one as well.
