Origin: Fuding, Fujian, China
Ingredients: Made of Silver Needle Green Tea, Lily and Osmanthus Flower
Taste: A fragrant, sweet taste, lingering flower scent mixed with tea flavor
Brew: a single tea bundle in a clear glass in boiling water. Glass Cup: 10cm in height, over 7cm in diameter.
Health Benefits: The infusion of the Marigold flower was drunk to alleviate the symptoms of nervous tension and to prevent sleepless nights. In China, osmanthus is not only treated as ornamental plant, but also used to make cake and wine. In traditional Chinese medical science, it is thought that osmanthus can warm the lung, relieve chills, warm stomach, and alleviate pains.

I have tried several of Teavivre’s flowering tea blends. The three I was most impressed by was True Love Flower Tea, Two Dragons and a Pearl, and Osmanthus Dancing Flower Tea.
Osmanthus Dancing Flower Tea
- Osmanthus Dancing is a nice flowering tea. The small osmanthus buds float around adding whimsy and charm to the tea.
- The taste of this tea is smooth and fresh — the flavour call to mind hay, petals and a spring morning.
- The aroma is pleasant, and the smell of lily and osmanthus intermingle well.

I love floral teas but prior to this, I’d never had osmanthus scented tea nor did I know what it’s supposed to taste like. The dry teaball has a rather unpleasant hay smell and if you steep it with boiling water as Teavivre instructs, you end up with a bitter and astringent brew.
So the next time I made this tea, I used 170 to 180 F water and it turned out much better. The hay odor thankfully didn’t make it to the brewed tea and I was able to pick up a subtle floral flavor which really shines through though on the 2nd infusion (I got 3 infusions in total out of 1 tea ball). While enjoyable, I was expecting a more flowery tasting tea and the osmanthus flavor was too mellow for my liking.
I made this side by side today with an osmanthus green oolong and the oolong was the hands down winner. The natural floral notes in the oolong pair better with the osmanthus than the vegetal green tea.
Still, this tea was tasty iced and fun to watch bloom in a glass teapot.

At first I thought this was a white tea due to the sweetness, but it is in fact a silver needle green tea. The flavor of this is very sweet and light with notes of honey, apricot and peach, a wonderful afternoon tea. Something about it seems slightly hydrating as well. It’s interesting to note that osmanthus has some health benefits also; but I will drink this for the pure pleasure! I might have to get some plain osmanthus someday just to try it.
