Youthberry White Tea

I’ve always wanted to love this one. It was always so popular at Teavana, but it was always too citrusy for me. The bag we have is a couple years old now-not stored properly at all since we got it so long ago when none of us knew anything about tea.
So maybe this is an accurate review, but maybe it’s not. Because I can’t tell if it’s lost flavor yet. xD I know it certainly hasn’t lost its smell yet!
Whenever I open the bag I’m hit with a strong citrus smell. While steeping the strong orange smell turned into a grapefruit smell. Which didn’t give me any confidence that I’d like it.
But I tried it anyway.
This tea has the weirdest texture. It’s like…fuzzy, and kinda leaves a weird dry sense in your mouth after each sip. That probably doesn’t make sense, but I have no idea how to describe it!
As for the flavor, it’s a lot more mild than the steeping or dry leaf smell. It’s kinda fruity, mostly citrusy. Not very sweet, like the other Teavana teas I actually like. It’s kinda just there. It definitely needs sugar, and I’m not one to add sugar to any of my drinks…So yeah.
This one is not for me! >< I can see why everyone loves it though. I’m a weirdo since I don’t like citrus xD Oh well! Saving money I guess!

I really liked this tea. Being in winter mode, I have been buying Chai teas, Black teas and all but there was a friends & family sale at Teavana and I Wanted to get different kinds for different Moods & ended up with this one amongst other ones and I really like the light fruity sweet taste it’s got. I am sure once the Warmer Weather comes back and I’ll be wanting more iced tea, this will be one of any summer go to.

I won’t lie, I’ve been putting this one off for a few days. I just have this memory of it being super tart with the hibiscus. I steeped according to the package directions today, only two minutes at 175°, and it’s turned out maybe just a touch light but also juicy with pineapple flavor. There’s a bit of a zest-like flavor as well.

I have not tried this tea by itself yet, but I do like how it blends with Teavana’s Monkey-Picked Oolong. I don’t brew it according to the instructions, as I prefer this one on the weaker side (I think I add about 1/4 as much as they tell you to), so I’m not overwhelmed by the aroma and/or fruity flavor.

When it’s blended with the Oolong, I don’t get the tartness that others have complained about either, but it did take me several attempts to brew it correctly… this tea gets oversteeped pretty easily and acquires a gross bitter taste if you don’t pay close attention to how long you’ve been steeping it (the difference of 30 secs is the difference between a tasty treat and an undrinkable mess).

The youthberry gives the Oolong a nice floral spice with an almost-honey aftertaste, and adding a little sugar gives it a faint lingering sweetness. (I personally don’t usually put much sugar in my tea, but I do add about 7 small crystals of Teavana’s rock sugar per 16oz to this one.)

Backlog sipdown. I actually finished this off last weekend and was too lazy to log it. In fairness, it was a busy weekend – my fiance and I volunteered at a program that makes science accessible to kids on Friday, finished cleaning the house that night, and then had friends over the rest of the weekend. I’m glad we got so much done, but it was seriously draining.

This tea was a sample from my best friend’s mom, it’s currently her preferred tea. I have to admit, I would repurchase this. It tasted strongly of berries (what kind I can’t exactly say) and it really hit all the right “fruity tea” notes for me. The resteep was quite weak, however, I’ve come to expect as much from Teavana.

Not bad, definitely something I’d consider picking up at some point.

I really liked this tea. It has a very nice flavor. I mean, I drink my teas sweetened (1:1 with the tea with the rock sugar) and its very good..

For the second steeping, I would add another scoop of leaves, or just dump it and start over..
I mean.. it isn’t horrible, just not as flavorful

This is not my favorite tea but I am also not a big fan of white teas in general. If you do try this tea there are a few things I found: first its on the weak side for me so I had to increase the amount of tea I use, and second if you over steep it the taste is bitter.

Decent tea I suppose. Beware not to over steep, as this is a white tea it gets bitter easily. Not my favorite by any means but it’s drinkable.

No no NOOOO YUCK. I usually like Teavana teas when I want something overpoweringly flavored or don’t mind overpaying for just a good straight loose leaf (love em or hate em, they do have some good quality unflavored teas… just pricey). This is characteristically Teavana in that the tea comprises a minority of the contents and they drown it in extra flavors. The main problem, however, is that they have chosen “essence of petrochemical rubber tire factory” as one of the flavors they added to this one along with all the berries & other stuff. I can taste the conveyor belt and fractional distillation chamber rinsing fluid just as prominently as the berries and tart florals.

For those who enjoy this tea and call it “unique”, maybe they just like their Acai berry notes well balanced with trimethylbenzene, or enjoy the tartness of pineapple offset with a good phenolic benzotriazole type methacrylate… Perhaps they are just used to brewing fruity teas with industrial factory waste-water imported direct from China. I guess, then, it would be unique. Not in a good way though.

Once it cooled and you spoon it full of sweetener, you can almost drink it. The trick is to try not to breathe in the aromatics (too artificial) while drinking it, and try to imagine yourself in a sweatshop shoe-sole factory while you do.

I would only wish this tea upon my worst enemies and those who actually enjoy artificial/industrial chemical flavors.

Disclaimer: I have a very sweet tooth. In other words, I really like my teas sweetened.

I enjoy this tea enough and am still trying to get through my tin of it. I probably won’t buy again though, as I don’t find the taste worth paying such a steep price for. It does smell wonderful when I’m steeping it though, and I drink it often for days where I want a nice, hot drink that is slightly fruity but not caffeinated. I always add loads of honey to mine.
